The annual meeting of the Pittsfield Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, January 13. The meeting will be at their headquarters at 13 Elm Street at 7:00 PM.

 


 

CRVNA Offers Laughter For Mind & Body Presentation In Pittsfield

 

Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association is offering a free presentation “Laughter for Mind & Body” on Tuesday, January 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pittsfield Senior Center, 74 Main Street in Pittsfield.

 

Laughter is a powerful remedy to stress, pain, and conflict. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded. Learn about the effects of laughter on our emotional and physical well-being, as well as our relationships.

NH Division Of Parks And Recreation Celebrates The New Year With Hikes On January 1, 2015

 

New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation in partnerships with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, Eastern Mountain Sports, Shaw’s Supermarkets, Mountain View Grant Resort and Tubb’s Snowshoes will sponsor free guided hikes in three state parks on New Year’s Day as part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative in all 50 states. This initiative offers individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on January 1, 2015. First Day Hikes offer a great way to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature and welcome the New Year with friends and family.

 

“We are excited to host First Day Hikes as part of this national effort to get people outdoors and into our parks.  First Day Hikes is a great way to cure cabin fever and burn off those extra holiday calories by starting off the New Year with an invigorating walk or hike in one of our beautiful state parks,” said Phil Bryce, Director of New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation. “We are fortunate to collaborate with wonderful partners to help provide First Day Hike activities at Monadnock State Park, Weeks State Park and Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion Historic Site.”

 

The following are the NH First Day Hike Locations:

 

· Monadnock State Park, located in Jaffrey, event will start at 11:45 a.m. Park staff will lead a hike along the Parker Trail.  It is considered a moderate hike, 2.8 miles in length round trip and will take approximately 2-3 hours to hike at a casual rate.

 

· Weeks State Park, Lancaster NH, event will start at 12:45 p.m. Park staff will lead a pet friendly hike up the Mt Prospect auto road.  It is considered a moderate hike, 3.2 miles in length round trip.

 

· Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion State Historic Site, located in Portsmouth, event will start at 12:45 p.m. The Society of New Hampshire Forests volunteer land stewards will lead a hike along the Little Harbor Loop Trail.  It is considered an easy hike, 1.5 miles in length, and will take approximately 1 hour to hike at a casual rate.
