Announce Auditions For “Thoroughly Modern Millie”
The Pittsfield Players will hold auditions for their fall show
“Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Sunday, August 18 at 5 pm and again on

for actors and actresses from teenaged to adult, and director Dee
Dee Pitcher is also looking for tap dancers as well. Auditioners
will be asked to sing (please bring your own sheet music), read from
the script, and also do a few dance steps that will be taught at the
audition. Rehearsals for the show will begin in earnest after Labor
Day, and the show will run at the Scenic Theatre for two weekends on
November 8, 9, and 10 and on November 15 and 16.
“Thoroughly Modern Millie” takes us back to New York City in the
Roaring ‘20s, when girls were bobbing their hair and rolling up
their stockings and breaking out of traditional female roles. The
show features some wonderful musical numbers, some great dancing
opportunities, and plenty of high comedy.
For a synopsis of the show and more information about
available roles, visit
www.mtishows.com. For more
information about The Players’ auditions and productions, contact
Dee Dee Pitcher at 736-2471.

From The Desk Of The Chief Of Police
First I’d like to thank everyone for calling in their hints and tips
regarding the recent burglaries. Because of the community’s
diligence we have a list of suspects and are closing in on those who
may have perpetrated these crimes. These particular burglaries may
be linked to several other surrounding towns, such as Goffstown,
Allenstown and Manchester.
I’d also like to thank those citizens who are coming forward in
order to form a Neighborhood Watch program to ensure we have many
pairs of eyes keeping watch on the whereabouts of suspicious people
and vehicles while we, the Police Department, are on other calls. It
is with the help of community members like yourselves that will help
crack down on crime in the long run.
Once again, don’t be afraid to call when you see anything that looks
out of place. These burglaries can happen just as easily at two
o’clock in the afternoon as they do at two o’clock in the morning.
Please remember to use caution and lock up when you leave, whether
it is your car or house, and call as soon as you see something.
Don’t wait until the next day. Crime is never convenient, but the
odds are in our favor when it is reported immediately.
F.B. Argue Pool News
We have had a busy summer with swimming lessons and the diving board
being used. The daily activities during the week will continue
through August. On Monday we do sack racing, Tuesday is Air Head
Bingo at 2:30, Wednesday we have the duck hunt around 2:45, Thursday
is story time with Mrs. Grainger from the library, and on Friday we
have our sand castle building judging at 3:00. We also have volley
ball and hula hoops to use every day.
We will not be open nights during August, but will open Sundays on
the 11th and 18th. The area will officially close on August 24th.
There will be a cookout from 1:00- 3:00. Mr. and Miss Pool will be
chosen for this summer and we will have games and races throughout
the afternoon. We will close at 4:00 on that day so that we can
finish our season clean-up.
Obituaries
Lucien H. Higgins
Lucien Henry Higgins passed away at his family home in Pittsfield of
a pulmonary embolism on April 18, 2013.
He was born on February 7, 1983 to William F. Higgins and Paulette
R. Higgins at Concord Hospital.
Lucien was born with Congenital Heart Defects. Life was a challenge
for him. Lucien was only one year old when he had his first heart
surgery; just one of many medical problems he encountered throughout
his short life. Lucien lived at the family home of his step father,
Wesley H. Higgins and his mother, Paulette R. Higgins for most of
his life.
He leaves behind one brother, Roy F. Higgins of Pittsfield. They
were very close all his life. Other survivors include uncles, aunts,
cousins and friends too numerous to mention here.
Lucien especially enjoyed spending time with his family and closest
friends. He also enjoyed camping, playing cards, and collecting
baseball hats.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 18th at
2:00 pm at his family home in Pittsfield.
Thank you to Chief Wharem of the Pittsfield Police Department and
the Rescue Squad for their assistance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory
of Lucien Higgins to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street,
Manchester, NH 03101.
