The Pittsfield Aqueduct Company
Thursday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. Cedric Dustin, Historical Society
president and former director of the Pittsfield Aqueduct Company,
will present a history of the company from its founding in 1884, its
purchase by Pennichuck Water in 1998 to its present day ownership by
the city of Nashua.
Find out what Pittsfield notables started the company and why they
thought Pittsfield needed a water company. Was some of the original
pipe made of wood? How was the usefulness of the system
demonstrated? Find out about an often under-appreciated aspect of
Pittsfield.
All are welcome to attend this presentation which will be held at
the Pittsfield Historical Society Headquarters at 13 Elm Street,
Pittsfield. And yes, water will be served!

foul poles on the upper field in the correct positions.
What a grand celebration there was for Hope Finnegan who turned 90
years old on April 27th! Forty seven friends and family from
Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire joined in
the festivities at a luncheon held in Gilford, NH. Hope has been a
resident of Pittsfield for sixty five years.
The Sixth Annual Mark Jarvis Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament
Plans are currently underway for organizing and conducting the Sixth
Annual Mark Jarvis Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. The
tournament will be held at the Loudon Country Club, Loudon, New
Hampshire, on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Starting time is 7:30. Cost
is $90.00 per player which includes continental breakfast, 18 holes
of golf with cart, snack at the turn, buffet after the game, along
with awesome raffles, contests, and more. The monies raised from
this tournament go into a scholarship fund to aid graduating seniors
at Pittsfield Middle High School. Last year we were able to present
two $1,000.00 scholarships.
Once again we are asking you to be a contributor and or supporter of
this fund raising tournament, but first, we would like you to know a
little more about the individual in whose honor the scholarship is
being given.
Mark Jarvis was a resident of New Durham, New Hampshire for over
thirty years. During that time, he was an educator in the Pittsfield
School System. At various times he taught special education
classed, served as the Director of Special Education and Student
Services, and was Vice Principal.
As a member of the New Durham/Alton community, he served for 28
years in the New Durham Volunteer Fire Department, lending his
abilities as an EMT and firefighter. He also served New Durham as a
member and chairmen of the Parks and Recreation Committee for over
ten years. He also served as a member and chairmen of the town
Budget Committee. In 2004 he and his wife Theresa were
co-recipients of the Citizen of the Year Award in New Durham.
Mark was an active Odyssey of the Mind/Destination Imagination Judge
for many years and was also active in the Boy Scouts, attaining the
level of Order of the Arrow.
His family, friends and co-workers wish to keep his memory and
dedication to youth and community alive by sponsoring a scholarship
program in his name. Mark always believed in those that had to work
a little harder to rise to the top, and we would like to keep that
spirit alive by honoring students who persevere and need a little
extra help to achieve their educational goals.

The Pittsfield Police Association would like to thank the PMHS
Student Council for coordinating the “Earth Day Clean Up” on Friday,
April 19th. The entire school was very active in different locations
around town. The group of students who came to the police station
and worked with Joe Darrah Enterprises went above and beyond and
brought the front of the station back to life. Thank you.

Well, I think we are finally back on track this week. We sprung into
spring with a good weight loss for the week. We have two members
that are Miss Angels. Keep up the good work Irene and Janis and you
both will be at your goals in no time. Irene was also the lucky one
tonight with winning the wishing well and 50/50.
KOPS of the week was Barbara and TOPS was Donna. So, congrats ladies
and kudos to those who also had a good loss.
We got the bylaws done and we finished the contest that we had been
running for a few weeks. Those winners were Joyce and Janis. So
again I say kudos to those who did really good at keeping their
journals and having a weight loss!
Keep your eyes open for the town wide yard sale, we will be on
Tilton Hill this year and hope to have a good turn out.
We had a unwrapped auction this past week and had lots of nice stuff
go around the room. Thanks to everyone who brought things in and to
those who played. It was a good time.
We have a Inspiration Workshop on May 18. Those are always a good
way to see how members have lost.
At TOPS we are a good support weight loss group. If anyone is
interested in joining us, we meet on Tuesday nights at the St.
Stephen’s Church on Main Street in Pittsfield at 5:30 pm for our
weigh in and at 6:30 pm for our meeting. Any questions please call

Obituaries
Michele L. Pszonowsky
Michele L. Pszonowsky, 44, of No. Spring St., Concord died April 2nd
at the Concord Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in
Concord, the daughter of the late Michael Pszonowsky of Pittsfield
and Gloria Hathaway Hillsgrove of Pembroke. She was raised in
Barnstead and Pittsfield. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High
School class of 1987, and attended Keene State College and NH
Technical Institute in Concord.
She worked as a waitress in several Concord Restaurants including
Thumbs, The Green Martini, and the Sandwich Depot. She was the
Activities Director at the Birches in Concord and was currently a
PCSP for the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association. Her
hobbies were music, photography, and college basketball. She looked
forward to “March Madness” every spring. She also was a
self-appointed advocate for the homeless in Concord.
She was predeceased by her beloved Golden Retriever, Jackson.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria Hillsgrove of Pembroke; a
brother, Peter Pszonowsky and wife Amy of Pittsfield; her mother #2,
Bea Pszonowsky Douglas and husband Al of Pittsfield; two nieces,
Mary Marcellino and Raylyn Michele Pszonowsky.
She also leaves behind her aunt, Judy Rinde-Thorsen of Sinks Grove,
West Virginia and husband Rindy; her uncle, Stephen Hathaway and
wife Patti of Montgomery Ctr., Vermont; her aunt, Susan Pszonowsky
Gibson and husband John of Valley View Texas; her uncle, Roger
Pszonowsky and wife Rhonda of Palm Bay Florida; her cousins and many
friends.
A Memorial Visitation was held Friday, April 6th at the Perkins &
Pollard Memorial Home and a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 7 in
the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield with the Rev. David
Stasiak, Pastor officiating. Urn burial will be Saturday, May 25th
at 11:00 am in the Floral Park Cemetery.
