It was interesting to note that in the July 12 edition of The
Concord Monitor, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Laos.
In the article, she would have talks with Laotian Prime Minister
Thongsing Thammavong and other officials. These talks would
center on the after effects of the Vietnam War for those that
suffered from unexploded cluster bombs and she “toured a small
museum devoted to its human toll.”
The article went on to say
she “walked through an exhibit of dangling cluster bombs and crude
wooden artificial legs made by villagers whose limbs had been blown
off by unexploded ordnance, the legacy of a war that Clinton herself
had protested as a college student in the 1960s.”
I guess since
she was one that demonstrated against the war, she does not realize
there are 318 Americans still listed as Missing In Action (MIA)
in Laos alone (DOD Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel office,
June 6, 2012). Not one word on those MIA or that she would
pursue the search efforts to find any Americans still alive or to
find the remains and bring them home.
The administration has a
moral right to pursue any Americans sighted, and pursue the remains
of those who have died in captivity or as an escapee from the camps
so the families can rest easy. Will this administration choose
to pursue this issue without apologizing to Laos or Vietnam or
any other country that has Americans? I seriously doubt it.

Letter
Dear Mr. P.O. Taxpayer, I read your letter and it appears that
you are the only one exception from this Pittsfield Town Rule for
people to have dogs. There are many in the town who, I am sure,
cannot even afford the $6.50, but do. Whether you pay taxes or not,
everyone knows the law of owning a dog.
Ms. Taylor is just doing
her job. She would rather not have to hang notices on your door, but
she is ordered to. You and any complaints you may have, you should
take up with the Chief or Town Clerk. You don’t have to put down in
public anyone who works for the town. They are here to protect us.
I feel you owe Ms. Taylor an apology in this newspaper because I’m
sure you upset her greatly. Everyone pays their taxes or tries, but
they also license their dogs on time.
Signed, Taxpayer of Pitts and Dog Lover who pays for her dog license

ACO Anne Taylor has always been professional, courteous and
knowledgable when I have contacted her for issues.
Ms. Taylor has
a difficult job and she does it very, well with a small budget and
limited time. She does return calls, maybe not for a day or two but
she has always returned my calls. Maybe the residents of Pittsfield
do not deserve her services, but the pets of Pittsfield sure do!
Thank you Ms. Taylor for your service to the community and animals
of Pittsfield.
Mr. Morse, if you have lived in Pittsfield for 30
years, you should know when to license your dog. Ms. Taylor,
kudos for going above and beyond to deliver the notice to his home.
Valerie David, Pittsfield
Letter
In my last letter, I stated that ACO Taylor hadn’t returned my call.
After I sent the letter to the Sun, she did leave me a message. I
apologize if I sound like I’m singling her out, however, I stand by
what I wrote.
In regards to Robert Wentworth’s letter, being a
citizen of Epsom, he apparently doesn’t know about Pittsfield’s
budget cut of $125,000. It has been said that the town can’t even
fund full-time police coverage because of this.
My point was
that maybe money could have been put to better use.
Respectfully, Donald Morse
The class of Pittsfield High School ‘42 held their 70th class
reunion on June 21 at Jitter’s Cafe. Six classmates attended. There
were 38 graduates in the class of 1942. Most of the graduates stayed
in the area. Two moved to Texas and several moved to the southern
states. Due to World War II, several classmates left high school and
enlisted in the armed forces and did not graduate with the class.
