Pittsfield Players To Hold Auditions For Kids’ Theater
Workshop
Show, Bugsy Malone, Jr.
Director Maye Hart has announced that auditions for the Pittsfield
Players’ Kids’ Theater Workshop presentation of Bugsy Malone, Jr.
will take place on Sunday, December 16 at 3 pm and on Monday,
December 17 at 4 pm at the Scenic Theatre, 6 Depot St., Pittsfield,
NH. Maye is looking for kids between the ages of 8 and 18 to be in
the show, work backstage, work in the lighting booth and on sound,
or to work on costumes. Auditioning kids will be asked to sing a
song from the show, that we will learn at the audition, and will be
asked to do a few simple dance steps. If you would like to prepare
an additional audition number, please have a CD with you as there
will not be an accompanist for auditions.
Bugsy Malone, Jr. is adapted from the movie of the same name, and it
is a wild and wacky musical that includes a child’s dream come true,
a classic pie fight with “splurge blasters” that spew forth shaving
cream, and a wonderful score written by the composer of The Muppet
Movie. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Kids’ Workshop
original presentation of this show.

My Mentoring Experience
Submitted By Shailer Kern Carruth, PMHS Graduate 2008, Foss Scholar,
Graduated From Temple University In 2012, Cum Laude With A BFA In
Dance, And Completing Their Honors Program In General Studies
From Shailer’s mentee to Shailer, April 2008:
“…I really love having you as a friend because usually I become
friends with people who need me, but for once I need you. You
always point me in the right direction, and save me from myself,
you’re always there even when I feel that I’m too close to the edge
of losing it. I’m scared but because of you I know I can make it
through anything.”
I am still connected to my mentee and will always consider her an
incredibly special part of my life. She is both family and a friend
and so much more. I have laughed with her and cried for her and she
continues to make me proud of the woman she is becoming. Together we
were able to find pieces of ourselves we thought would remain
hidden. The friends I made in the fellow mentors are still some of
my closest companions. They hold a special place in my heart that I
reserve for those who deserve love and support unconditionally and
unabatedly. Although we’re often far apart I would drop anything in
my life for them. This program helped me become the most sensitive,
empathetic, understanding, and positive version of myself I can be
and I will strive to carry these lessons with me wherever I go,
through whoever I become.

Fair Thanks
On behalf of the Dorcas Guild of the First Congregational Church of
Pittsfield, I thank the community and all those who attended our two
recent Christmas/Craft Fairs for your support. Special thanks go to
the many contributors who tirelessly make these fairs some of the
best in this region and to the Suncook Valley Sun for their great
ads.
Our ladies’ guild strives to assist the church and the community in
those special needs that arise as well as to support several
missions. If you share our resolve to serve God and your neighbors,
consider joining our group. There is no attendance requirement or
dues. We work throughout the year on crafts for our fairs, meeting
Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm, beginning this coming year on
February 6 at the church. We also have monthly evening business
meetings every second Tuesday at 7 pm, also at the church, beginning
January 8.
Again, many thanks for your generous support.
Nella Hobson,
Dorcas Guild President
Chichester
A huge thank you goes to Mike Brewster and Clint “Dipper” Lank who
spent a day pouring floors in the new dugouts on the upper field at
Pittsfield Youth Athletic Park. They also poured the bases for the
new memorial plaque, and the plaques honoring the American Legion
and Matthew Ward at the flagpoles. Not pictured is Tony Scopa who
helped set the forms and Richard Foss who provided the materials.

Letter To The Editor
Living in a small town has its advantages and disadvantages. I grew
up in a military family and was on the move often, therefore not
leaving much time to form many forever friendships. I decided when I
had children that it was important to me for them to finish school
in the town they began, and it ended up being Pittsfield.
I can say that I am proud to be from this great community. The past
four months have shown that more than ever for my family. The
overwhelming support, emotional and financial, since my husband was
diagnosed with cancer has been nothing short of amazing. From stops
in the stores to see how he is doing, meals delivered, and donations
made (including advertising and raffle items), I would like to thank
each and every person who has touched our family in one way or
another.
I would like to especially thank JJ Goodwins for the use of your
establishment to hold a fundraiser. I also give a big thanks to the
staff of JJ’s, Lisa Caldwell, Linda Morel, Melissa Rakiey, and Amy
Mitchell for putting so much time and effort into planning such a
successful event. There are so many great people and organizations
to thank that it would take a whole newspaper to name you all. You
may never know how much it has touched us.
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
Jennifer Cole and family
