TOPS #38 Pittsfield
Easter has come and gone, and so has the candy, we hope. Time for
celery, and carrots, bunny food, and good for us all. The evenings
are longer, and so is the time for us to wear less clothing. We all
want to look and feel better. Why not try TOPS? What better way to
do so than with a support group meeting that we hold
weekly in Pittsfield.
I hope that you have a chance to attend one of our meetings on
Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Church, Main Street,
Pittsfield. It is a non-profit organization and all are welcome. You
do not have to live in Pittsfield to become a member, or visit us.
If you have any questions or for further information, please call
Sandy, 798-5658 or Pat, 435-5333.

VA
Welcoming Vets Home With New Web Site, Department Of Veterans Affairs, Public
Affairs Office
The Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) has launched its new “Returning Veterans” Web site -
www.oefoif.va.gov
- to welcome home Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts
with a social, Veteran-centric Web site focusing on their needs and
questions.
“VA is entering the world of Web 2.0, because that’s where this
generation of Veterans is already communicating,” said Dr. Gerald M.
Cross, VA’s Principal Deputy Undersecretary for Health. “We’re
opening our doors to them virtually to let them know what they can
expect when they step through our doors in reality.”
The Web site will feature videos, Veteran stories, and a blog where
Veterans are encouraged to post feedback. The site also will
restructure the traditional index-of-benefits format found on other
VA pages into question-based, categorized, and easily navigated
links by topic. This will allow Veterans to find benefits of
interest easily and discover related benefits as they explore.
“We hope our returning Veterans find this site easy and helpful, but
also engaging,” Dr. Cross said. “As the site grows, we will be
linking to Veterans’ blogs and highlighting more of their own
stories from their own views. We are their VA, so we are eager to
provide a forum for Veterans to discuss their lives.”

Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce Holds Successful Business
After Hours
The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce was excited to hold yet
another successful Business After Hours. The event was sponsored by
the White Buffalo Trading Post on Tuesday, April 21st from 6 p.m. to
9 p.m. They opened their doors to all of the Chamber Members
providing us with food and entertainment for the evening.
Upon first arrival there were several appetizers out for the Chamber
Members. We had our choice of chicken wings in oyster sauce and real
Italian or weeznscott calzones. Once everyone arrived, a slough of
pizzas were presented to us. We had our choice of a Brocolli and
Prosciutto, an Old Salt Lake, a Town Hall Pizza as well as Pepperoni
and Cheese all of which were fabulous! Then to top it all off they
had homemade desserts available such as cheese cake, baklava and
brownies! YUM!!!
After everyone finished eating and mingling, we were taken on a tour
of the upstairs facility. This area supplies various sorts of fire
arms, archery equipment and you can even get your fishing and
hunting licenses renewed there. They also offer firearm safety
courses including pistol, rifle and shotgun.
Then the fun began!! We were taken to the back of the upstairs where
there is an air soft shooting range!!! We were all able to take
turns shooting at the target with air guns that shoot tiny pellets
from them. What a blast!! You have to try it, it was so much fun!!!
The turn out for this event was 10 to
15 Members. Each Member was able to interact with one another and
had the opportunity to learn about the individual businesses and the
services they offer. Everyone had a wonderful time! You can view the
pictures of this event on The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce

The King Lives! (in the bathroom….)
Barbara Oliveria and Mark Landry play The Big El and The Big P in
The Pittsfield Players performance of Bathroom Humor this weekend
and next at the Scenic Theatre in Pittsfield. Bathroom Humor
promises to be the most fun you’ve ever had in the bathroom,
guaranteed!

One of the greatest Elvis impersonations you’ll ever find in a
bathroom venue will appear on the Scenic Stage this weekend and next
as The Pittsfield Players present “Bathroom Humor” May 1, 2 at 8 PM,
May 3 at 2 PM and again on May 8 & 9 at 8 PM. If you liked “Love,
Sex and the IRS,” you’re going to love “Bathroom Humor.”
Mark Landry plays the most adorable Elvis impersonator to ever grace
a bathroom. He’s small and limber, decked out in the classic white
suit with the glitz, cape and belt; the curtain opens – the shower
curtain that is- and magic happens. “The Big El,” employed by Russ
and Lucille to entertain guests at their party, may not have what it
takes to impress the other guests but sparks fly when the
unfortunate Peg (played by Barbara Oliveria) enters the room… the
bathroom that is. Self-described as a “walking demolition crew”
Peg’s luck at the party has consisted of smashing a 300-year old
family heirloom, splitting her pants open, devouring a 3lb block of
cheese and arriving early enough to help the hosts vacuum. Despite
all that, she is a woman with a heart of gold and willing to take
even more chances.
“Bathroom Humor” – it’s not what you
think! Tickets are available through the Pittsfield Players website
www.pittsfieldplayers.com
or by reserving at the box office (603) 435-8852. Come have a laugh
with us, you’ll be relieved you did.
