Northwood Community Drive-In
Movie Night
The Northwood Advent Christian Church is hosting its
second in a series of summer community events with a Drive-In Movie
Night, Saturday, July 21st, at 113 School St. vent is free
and is open to everyone. It will start at 8 pm with cartoons and
comedy and the main feature will start around 8:30, darkness
permitting. The feature film will be “Soul Surfer”, a great flick
for these hot July days!
This is an astonishing true story of a
courageous 13-year-old surfer who lost her arm to a shark attack -
but never lost her faith! You’ll be inspired by how Bethany Hamilton
overcame physical and emotional trauma to return to competitive
surfing with the help of her family and God. Stars AnnaSophia Robb,
Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, and Dennis Quaid. Rated PG. Approx.
106 minutes.
Free popcorn, refreshments and drinks will be
provided. You can watch from your car or bring a blanket, or lawn
chairs to watch from the lawn (don’t forget bug spray). If weather
is bad all will be held indoors.
Letter
Over the last year
and a half the majority in New Hampshire’s legislature has worked to
implement a radical agenda, crafted by outsiders, that came as a
shock to almost all of us. It is time to return to commonsense
New Hampshire values, before more damage is done.
Northwood can
now elect its own representative, and I am running for that seat in
the State House. I have served my community as a selectwoman and on
many of the Town’s boards and committees. I helped start the
Northwood Farmers Market, and have served on the boards of The
Forum, our on-line newspaper, and Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, our
land trust. I know our community, its strengths and its
challenges. I would be honored to serve as our representative
at the State House.
The past two years have seen our state
spinning its wheels at best, and going backwards all too often. In a
time when we could, and should, have been working to prepare for a
challenging future in a global economy and on a warming planet,
we’ve been subjected to attacks on civil rights, public education,
care for our more vulnerable citizens, our labor force and decent
jobs, and women’s health, to name a few.
There is a lot of
repair going to be needed even while we move forward. NH
voters would be well-advised to elect multi-taskers this year.
