Teddy’s for Joy
Teddy bear drive
By Crystal A Schlessinger, Coe
Brown Academy Senior
My name is Crystal A Schlessinger and I am a senior at Coe Brown
Academy, in Northwood, NH and as part of my senior portfolio I
decided to hold a teddy bear drive called Teddy’s for Joy.
The objective of the teddy bear drive was
to collect teddy bears and stuffed toys, new and gently loved, to be
donate and divided up between Boston Children’s Hospital and
children in foster care here in the state of NH.
I had collection bins at Hannaford’s in
Northwood, Northwood Town Hall, Coe Brown Academy, Northwood
Elementary and Middle School and at Ben Franklins in Raymond NH.
I also contacted our local paper, the Suncook Valley Sun, and they
did a press release for the teddy bear drive, and I used Facebook to
let the public know about the teddy bear drive and where they could
drop off their donated teddy bears.
I would like to thank everyone that helped make the Teddy’s for Joy
teddy bear drive such a warm and wonderful success and for helping
make children in need, Christmases as little bit brighter and
snuggly-er!
Thank you to Hannaford’s in Northwood, the Town of Northwood, Coe
Brown Academy, Northwood Elementary and Middle School, Ben
Franklin’s in Raymond, to the Suncook Valley Sun newspaper and to
all of you that spread the word through Facebook and to all of you
who gave of your hearts and bears and to my family who started this
tradition when I was growing up and I decided to carry on the
tradition in my soon to be adult life!
Happy holidays to all and a very “Beary” Christmas!!!
