Northwood Lake Starts Diving And Weed Watching Programs

Brad Hall, Volunteer Dive Team Coordinator for Northwood Lake Watershed Association, announced training for milfoil divers August 6 and 7. Ted Aldrich (Master Diver/Instructor of Certification Class) will conduct classroom instruction Friday evening, August 6, 5:30- 10:30 p.m. at the Northwood Town Hall. Open water training and certification will be held Saturday, August 7. Training openings are still available for tenders (boats that assist the divers) and divers. Eleven volunteer Weed Watchers met with Andrea Tomlinson, the Watershed’s Water Quality Director and DES Exotic Plant Specialist, Diedra Sargent, on July 19. Each Northwood Lake Weed Watcher will take a section of the lake to monitor for invasive plants. Once found, the volunteer dive team will be informed and come and pull them.
The Watershed feels this is a positive step in reducing chemical treatment of the lake. Need more information? Visit us at www.northwoodlake.com
