Preschool Openings!
Now
is the time to think about enrolling your child in preschool! The
Center School in Northwood is accepting registrations for the
2010-2011 school year. The Center School is a parent cooperative
preschool located next to the Town Hall in Northwood, which provides
a developmental program for three, four, and five year-olds of
Northwood and surrounding towns. There are openings in our two-day
(T/Th) program and three-day (M/W/F) morning programs. Call us soon
and come to visit! For information, please call director Karen
Andersen at the school at 942-7686.
Deerfield Cooperative Preschool Participates in Earth Day
Project
The
Deerfield Cooperative Preschool is participating in the seventeenth
annual Earth Day Groceries Project! The students at our school are
decorating paper grocery bags with environmental messages. On Earth
Day, April 22, these bags will be passed out (full of groceries) to
shoppers at the Northwood Hannaford Grocery Store. Besides carrying
an environmental message, each bag will also have the name of our
school and some wonderful artwork. The people in our neighborhood
will get a very clear and positive message that the young
preschoolers at our school care about their environment.
This is the seventeenth year this international educational effort
has been coordinated on the Internet. Please see the project website
at:
http://www.earthdaybags.org for complete information. A report
from our school will be added to the website, so others will know
about the effort at our school. This is one of the largest and most
well established educational projects on the Internet. It is a
nonprofit, grassroots effort. The project started in 1994, with 43
schools reporting the decoration and distribution of 13,000 Earth
Day Grocery Bags. In 1999, the number of schools reporting in
reached nearly 1,200, with students decorating almost 400,000 Earth
Day Grocery Bags! Every report from all the previous years is on the
website. There are also thousands of pictures of schools from around
the world involved in this project.
We are pleased and proud to
be a part of this effort. We invite you to contact our school at
463-7353 to find out more about the specific activities at our
school and the commitment of our students to the issue of
environmental education.
