Letter

I just received a letter today from the Northwood Teachers Association. I do not understand what they are looking for. They want the townspeople to come vote on some really important issues. I am guessing the association is not happy that the School Board may or may not be doing their job? Highlights are 0% increase to teachers salary schedule. 23 out of 47 will get a one step increase. Teachers have agreed to increase cost sharing for health insurance premiums (boy, that is mighty nice of you), but truth be told, the school is still looking for this huge hike in our taxes because you all think OUR, YES, OUR money grows on trees. I think and this is my own personal opinion here, be happy you even have a job! You people would rather do than without and take people who have no job and are losing their homes for your own selfish reasons. Do you people ever stop? Please come and vote, and if they don’t like it let them leave. Someone else will take your place. If you want your kids to have a good education sit down with them and give them one.

Truth is Suppressed
By Pastor Ted White

There are those who want to suppress the truth. They want to have their own way, be their own captain, be in control, be their own self-made person and push their agenda on others. So, how is truth suppressed?

In Romans chapter one we are told. This is a powerful chapter, which deals with God’s perspective on mankind. Man can come up with his own gods, the gods of his own mind, but the true God has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. People are invited to trust Him. It is their choice.

First, God has made it very plain that He exists. Just look around at creation. If you cannot see design there, then you won’t see Him. But that does not excuse a person from their accountability to God. They can deny it, but just as surely as death is getting closer to each one of us, so too are we getting closer to giving an account to our Maker (1:18-20).

Second, when man decides not to follow God his thinking becomes futile and his foolish heart becomes darkened. Those who deny God think they are wise, but God says they became fools. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worship the creation rather than the Creator. Interestingly though, what comes next is sexual degradation (1:24-25).
Third, those who deny God approve of others who do. The rest of Romans chapter one deals with the slippery slope that a person or nation is on by denying the truth about God (1:26-32). The truth is suppressed by:

• Those who deny in the existence of God
• Those who worship creation(nature) rather than the Creator
• Those who practice sexual degradation of any sort
• Those filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity
• Those filled with envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice
• Those who are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful
• Those who invent ways of doing evil
• Those who disobey their parents
• Those who are senseless, faithless, heartless and ruthless

Again, those who practice these things seek to influence others to practice them as well. But God’s truth is evident to whoever wants to know the truth. Jesus said there is a wide and narrow road. The majority is on the wide road to destruction, few find the narrow road. Few see their need to trust the Savior from sin, Jesus. Many believe they are okay, they are all set. My hope is that you would see your need to trust Jesus. But, that is up to you. These are not my words. Take it up with Jesus who said, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” I truly hope you will trust Him.

Lions Outing For The Blind

On Wednesday, February 4th, Saddleback Mountain Lions Club once again hosted its annual “winter” outing for the sight impaired of New Hampshire at Lake Shore Farm.

We could not have accomplished this event without the help of many volunteers and would like to thank the following students from Coe-Brown Academy for their assistance: Maria Cabral, Maureen Evans, Elizabeth Herron, Ashley Longver, Erin Powers, David Rice, Ryan Seymore, Justine Sheehan, Skyler Szuss and parent chaperone, Gerry Sheehan.

Lion Ann Albert brought students: Chris Lowe, Ashley Rocca, Danni Dawson, and Brendon Kidder.

Boy Scouts from Troop 312 that were in attendance included: Nick Halka, Tyler Doiron and Jacob Bridge and Scout Leader, John Halka who all assisted with the ice fishing event along with Bill Lounsbury who provided the necessary equipment.

Our blind guests caught three nice pickerel.

Northwood Crank Pullers, Dave Copeland and Dan Kerivan gave snowmobile rides. Student volunteers helped by escorting the blind to the various winter events and filled in as wait staff to serve the luncheon.

Our guests traveled from all parts of the granite state to enjoy a fun-filled day.

Once again, thanks to all who helped to “make a difference” for those who truly appreciated your assistance!
