On
Saturday, October 17, the Ladies Mission Group of the Advent
Christian Church is sponsoring their Fall Fun Brunch from 10 a.m.
until noon at the Northwood Advent Christian Church on School Street
in Northwood Narrows. Norma Taatjes, “The Hat Lady,” will hold a
fashion show of hats. Wear or bring a hat if you wish.
Northwood Basketball Friends of Recreation will hold a meeting on
Tuesday, October 20th, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Northwood Elementary
School Lunch Room to discuss the upcoming season. We need coaches,
referees, and volunteers to help. Also, people to be board officers.
Basketball for Grades 4-8 usually begins around Thanksgiving.
Grades K-3 usually starts right after New Year’s.

October.

Northwood Farmers’ Market
It’s not over yet! The Northwood Farmers’ Market is moving
indoors for three “off season” markets at the Masonic Lodge right
next to the municipal lot (Rts. 4, 202/9 and Rt. 43 at the traffic
lights) where we have been reveling in good local products all
summer. Our local farms still have fall produce. There is still jam
and salsa, wine and soaps, eggs and wool and more, all local, all
fresh.
Come support your neighbors, meet friends and enjoy some more of the
Northwood Farmers market - INDOORS!
9:00 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 24th; Saturday Nov. 7th; Saturday,
Nov. 21st. Parking off Rte. 202/9 in the municipal parking lot.

Northwood Recreation Update Haunted Hayride & Tailgate
Trick-r-Treat
The Northwood Recreation Department will be holding
its 4th Annual Haunted Hayride on Friday and Saturday, October 30th
and 31st. We will be haunting the woods at Camp Yavneh on
Route 43 in Northwood from 6:00-8:00 PM. Enjoy unlimited rides
for $3.00 per person or $10 per family.
Also, for the first
time, decorate you vehicle, bring your candy, and participate in the
Tailgate Trick-r-Treat. It will take place in the parking lot
of the Haunted Hayride on Saturday, the 31st. Parking begins
at 4:15.
Trick-r-Treating will begin at 5:00 and travel will not
be permitted in this area between 5:00 and 6:00 PM for the safety of
the children.

Libraries To Present Humanities-To-Go Program
The Chesley
Memorial Library, the Blaisdell Memorial Library, and the Philbrick-James
Library will hold a joint session of the Humanities-to-Go program
“Rediscovering Afghanistan: Lessons from the Home” in Nottingham at
the Blaisdell Memorial Library on Tuesday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m.
Using still photography and film images, historical sources,
material artifacts, ethnographies, geopolitical data, and personal
anecdotes, Dartmouth Geography and Women and Gender Studies
professor Jennifer Fluri and Rubia Inc. founder Rachel Lehr share
insights garnered from their extensive experiences of both rural and
urban Afghan homes and communities.
