Derek Ladd Of Epsom Receives The Morris Family
Scholarship
Derek Ladd president of the Victory Workers 4-H Club from
Epsom NH receives the Morris Scholarship from the “Big E”
Presented by the Morris family in Springfield Mass last week.
Derek Ladd in his ten years as a member to the Victory Workers
has completed 1742 hours of Citizenship and Community Service.
He has 477 hours of 4-H Promotions and served on 109 Committees.
Yes, Derek has been an upstanding club, county, and state 4-H
member. He is a great role model for all youth. He has helped
the club with 27 fundraisers and the county with six.
He
was on of the four members that learned to write grant requests
and fundraise to pay for their trip to Citizenship Washington
Focus National 4-H Trip in 2015. He and fellow members then
came back to NH to promote and encourage our state to renew
funding for National 4-H trips like this for future 4-H members.
He has served as a Jr. Leader in the Club’s Cloverbuds (5 to 7
yrs old), crafts, animal science, gardening, heritage arts,
community service and citizenship projects.
He
has learned many life skills through his 4-H club involvement.
He has participated in Clover Cash (money management), animal
science demonstrations allowing him opportunities to practice
communication skills and build self-confidence. He has learned
to set goals and high standards through hands-on individual and
group projects such as working steer, cake decorating, rug
braiding, caning, basketry, foods, food preservation,
woodworking, crafts, gardening, photography, club exhibits,
scrapbooking and posters. He has received outstanding creative
design awards at the Hopkinton State Fair. He has taken part in
the working steer project attending many fairs in the state. He
represented New Hampshire at the Eastern States Expo.
Derek has completed county records for past ten years which
included a working steer record. Derek has been a records and
county medal winner numerous times.
Derek is one of the members that plans and oversees our Spring
Fling at Tractor Supply during the 4-H Paper Clover Drive
sponsored by Tractor Supply Nationwide. Our Fall Festival at
Duane’s Family Farm on October 21st 2017 which include animal
demonstrations, action exhibits, public speaking, food booth,
make it take its and games for the public, brings awareness to
our 4-H programs.
Derek has been a great asset to our club, community, county, and
state. We only wish you the best in your next chapter.
