What’s new at the Josiah Carpenter Library?
2017 brings new and exciting changes to the Josiah Carpenter
Library. We start off with introducing you to our new Children’s
Librarian, Holly Brown. Holly began with the library at the end
of last summer as a Circulation Assistant and quickly began
learning about library cataloging and procedures. She came to
the library with a background in Early Childhood Education
having worked in a school media center as well as 21 years as a
first, second and third grade elementary teacher in Newport, NH.
Holly has been working with Carol Grainger to cover the
Children’s Library Preschool story hour and after school maker
programs and will begin as the lead children’s library services
person on Jan 9, 2017. She will continue as the contact person
for the 1,000 books before Kindergarten program as well as
instrumentally helping coordinate the Summer Reading Program for
children ages Preschool through 5th grade. Please stop by the
library and meet Holly. She is a friendly person with lots of
ideas, talent and enthusiasm. Holly, the library staff and the
Friends of the Library are looking forward to working with other
local organizations to bring you first rate children’s programs
in the coming year.
The
Josiah Carpenter Library is currently hosting a local Art
Exhibit by artist Rosemary Pierce. This exhibit will be running
through February of 2017. Rosemary is a self taught artist who
is inspired by nature and local scenery. She has been painting
since 1999 using three different mediums including oil,
watercolor and pastel. Please stop by and view these beautiful
pieces of uniquely framed artwork and make your comments in our
guest book.
