The Pittsfield Players’ Kid’s Theater Workshop
Presents Guys And Dolls, Jr.
Benny Southstreet (Joe Garcia), Nicely Nicely Johnson (Caleb
Molloy, and Nathan Detroit (Turner Jennings) are looking for a place
to hold their crap game, while Miss Adelaide (Alex Keyes) looks on,
in The Pittsfield Players’ Kid’s Theater Workshop production of Guys
and Dolls, Jr.
The Pittsfield Players’ Kid’s Theater Workshop will present Guys and
Dolls, Jr. at the Scenic Theatre, 6 Depot St., Pittsfield, NH on
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 pm
each evening. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids under 16,
and you can reserve tickets by calling 435-8852.
The Kid’s Theater Workshop is a program specifically designed to
introduce kids to the stage and acting in front of a live audience.
The finished production is presented to local schools in special
matinee performances along with three additional evening
performances. It is a program open to kids ages 8 to 18, where they
can work wherever they feel most comfortable, whether it be in the
spotlight, or in technical positions such as lights, sound, and
stage management.
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls
follows Salvation Army crusaders and high rollers from the streets
of Times Square to Havana and back again. Nathan Detroit, who is
permanently-engaged to psychosomatic showgirl Miss Adelaide, will be
forced to fold Detroit’s Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap
Game unless he wins a bet from slick high roller Sky Masterson.
When Sky gambles that he can woo any “doll” Nathan counters that
Sky will not be able to convince an up-right but up-tight missionary
named Sarah to go to Havana with him. Sarah finds the rakish Sky
very resistible at first, but eventually both Sky and Sarah teach
each other a lesson on winning. From Sky Masterson, Miss Adelaide
and Sarah, to their fellow gamblers, performers and crusaders, Guys
and Dolls is filled with so many well-loved characters. You will
applaud these Kids for their hard work in creating the world of this
musical and the characters that populate it. Think “standing
ovation” for all of their work. The Players’ Kids’ Theater Workshop
first presented Guys and Dolls, Jr. in 2007, and now a whole new
generation of kids are being introduced to this great show.
