Josiah Carpenter Library And Pittsfield Historical Society
To Host Local Author, Michele Albion
Submitted by Beverly Pietlicki
Michele Albion, Dover New Hampshire resident and author of “The
Quotable Henry Ford,” will be presenting a talk at the Pittsfield
Middle High School on Thursday, February 13 at 7pm in the School
Lecture Hall. Michele worked as curator for the Edison and Ford
Winter Estates in Fort Myers, Florida where she became interested in
Henry Ford as a unique individual. Later she began researching and
collecting quotes from a rich pool of archival resources
establishing the basis for her book which covers a variety of Henry
Ford’s thoughts and expressions on obvious subjects such as
automobiles and transportation technology of the times, his company
and the business and management of it, and money and economics.
Surprisingly, her book also includes his thoughts on a variety of
other subjects such as work and leisure, education and the arts,
health and nature, on his family and on humanity. Michele Albion
successfully presents Henry Ford as an important and profound
historical figure and brings his personality alive through the
choice of unexpected and unusual direct quotes. Henry Ford was not
just the inventor of the most utilized motor invention but his
influence on the American economy and industrial revolution as well
as who he was as an individual is revealed through these insights
into his responses and thinking.
In 2013, Michele was honored for “The Quotable Henry Ford” and was
selected by the Henry Ford Heritage Association for their annual
Book Award. This award is given to individuals who have made
significant contributions to the legacy of Henry Ford. The September
1, 2013 edition of Foster’s featured a lengthy article on Michele’s
background as a museum curator and researcher and explained that
writing has been a lifelong dream of Michele’s which she continues
to pursue by writing regularly and publishing new books. She is also
a great speaker and presenter who is adept at handling an audience
of mixed ages and interests.
Michele will talk for about forty minutes and then take questions.
She will finish her presentation with a book signing. As an
historian, researcher and educator, Michele has written “The Florida
Life of Thomas Edison,” “The Quotable Edison,” “The Quotable Henry
Ford” and most recently, “The Quotable Eleanor Roosevelt,”
(University Press of Florida, 2013.) Join us for a free and fun
presentation with Michele Albion, author of the . . .Quotable books.
All of her books will be available for sale at the conclusion of the
presentation. Two free raffles will also take place. Tickets are
available at the library but are not required in order to attend the
program. Please contact Beverly Pietlicki or any of the staff at the
Josiah Carpenter Library (435-8406) for further questions or
