Gilmanton Fire Department Presented With Two Defibrillators
Fire Chief Hempel receiving one of the defibrillators from
Association President FF Dennis Comeau.
On December 10, 2012, Association President Firefighter Dennis
Comeau presented two defibrillators to Chief Paul “Joe” Hempel of
the Gilmanton Fire Department.
The defibrillators, which were purchased by the Association for
$2,500, will go on one engine in the Iron Works station and one
engine in the Corners station. The funds were raised by our
fundraisers, which include the collection of monies from NASCAR race
fans.
“People have been very generous to us over the years,” said Dennis
Comeau. “We exist to give back to the Town of Gilmanton and the
Gilmanton Fire Department. These funds were raised and earmarked for
the purchase of equipment that would benefit both the department and
the community as well.”
Chief Hempel said that the equipment was a great gift and they have
already been mounted in the trucks. “Anything that we can get to
help us do our jobs helps us tremendously. The fact that these
expensive machines are donated makes it even better. The members of
the Association give a lot to the Town and the Department and a lot
of what they do goes unnoticed. The equipment that the Association
buys or donations that they give, comes strictly from monies raised
through donations and not tax money.”
The Association is made up of firefighters and medical personnel of
the Gilmanton Fire Department.
