Boston Post Cane Presented To Barnstead Citizen

Mrs. Ethel L. Pinkham was recently presented with the Boston Post Cane by the Chairman of the Barnstead Board of Selectmen, Mr. Dave Kerr.  Mrs. Pinkham, along with her six children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and friends celebrated the Boston Post Cane presentation and her 94th birthday.

Mrs. Pinkham moved to Center Barnstead when she was 5 years old and began first grade in the one room school house located in the center of town.  She graduated from Pittsfield High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from the University of New Hampshire in 1939.

After graduation from UNH, she married John H. Pinkham (deceased in 2009).  They settled in Portsmouth and started their family while her husband worked in the shipyard during WWII.  After the war, they established residence in Center Barnstead and raised their six children.  Mrs. Pinkham is a retired Postmaster for Center Barnstead, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, former member of the Fireman’s Auxiliary and former PTA president.
