The Spradling Group Joins Effort To Boost Business In Town Of Pittsfield

The Pittsfield Board of Selectmen have hired Scott Spradling, President of The Spradling Group, to help officials and town leaders attract new business and encourage current businesses to expand without stressing existing town finances.  Spradling, a former anchor and reporter of WMUR-TV, will help develop a strategy to help businesses already calling Pittsfield home, while working with town leaders to create plans to make Pittsfield more attractive to prospective new businesses.

“I am proud to be working with town leaders in Pittsfield, and very excited about the potential for helping this wonderful community to expand and thrive,” explains Spradling. “This is a collective effort. We want input from business owners, from state economic development leaders and from the residents of Pittsfield. We want to develop new ways to promote living and working in town and attract new business to the downtown and to the Route 28 corridor.”

Working with the Board of Selectmen and the Pittsfield Economic Development Committee, Spradling will help develop a plan which will then be promoted to the local media to focus a spotlight on Pittsfield. Linda Small, Chairman of the Pittsfield Board of Selectmen, sees great opportunity in launching an aggressive new outreach plan to expand the town’s tax base. “We know there’s a great story to tell in Pittsfield,” explains Small. “We have available space, a skilled and available workforce, and a wonderful community which can serve as home to businesses large and small. These are difficult times and we have to reach out in order to stand out.”

The Pittsfield Economic Development Committee is sending out a survey to gauge feedback from business leaders.  And in the coming weeks, Spradling and the Board of Selectmen will host a Town Hall meeting with businesses and the public to solicit feedback on ways to improve the economy of Pittsfield.

“But we don’t want to wait for a meeting this Fall to hear from residents,” explains Spradling. “Let us know what you think now.  Send us an e-mail to [email protected] with any ideas you have that might help attract new business to Pittsfield, while nurturing the businesses we have in town right now. Help us help you and join in the effort to improve Pittsfield.”
