Letter To The Editor
My purpose in writing today is to publicly congratulate Don Guarino
on his re-election to the Board of Selectman in the Town of
Gilmanton. I sincerely wish him and the rest of the Board well in
the term ahead.
I also want to recognize the many residents who cast a ballot for
me. Thank you so much for your vote. While I am very disappointed,
of course, to have not been elected to serve as Selectman, it has
not diminished my core reason for running – I love Gilmanton.
My service to the Town as an active resident will continue and I
look forward to attending meetings, advocating for positions,
issues, and people in which I believe at public sessions, and doing
all I can to support the Selectmen.
These are important times for our community. The challenge of
maintaining the quality of our Town, its services and its assets
under SB2 and an economic recovery, which is yet to fully
materialize here, will truly test our leaders’ management skills.
With so many critical matters to work through, I encourage each and
every one of us to be involved. The Board’s work can only be
enhanced with our engaged citizenship.
Again, my congratulations to Don and my warmest thanks to those who
exercised their right to vote and expressed faith in my abilities.
Sincerely,
Betty Ann Abbott

It is time for Gilmanton to establish a library plan. There are
three libraries in Gilmanton (plus the school library). It appears
that this creates duplication in book supply, facilities and human
assets. I sense that there has been some competition among the
libraries to be “Gilmanton’s Library.” Much more could be
accomplished if all of the libraries cooperated to develop a plan
that would meld physical and human assets to develop a Gilmanton
library (system).
I don’t think that it is realistic to expect that a growing town
like Gilmanton can have adequate library service without taxpayer
support.
It is time for the “battle of the libraries” to end, and for all of
the libraries to work together to make a plan that will supply
Gilmanton with good and efficient library service through combining
of assets and cooperation.
I ask the Selectmen to be involved to decide what taxpayer support
they would recommend. (I am not associated with any of the Gilmanton
libraries).

New Church In Town
Great news everyone! There is a new church in the town of Gilmanton.
The pastor, Nate Pickowicz grew up in Gilmanton IW where he now
lives with his wife Jessica and son Jack. They have answered God’s
calling in starting this church, which is appropriately named
Harvest Bible Church. It is an evangelical church and their mission
is to reach the lost, strengthen the weak, and encourage the
faithful unto godliness through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In Luke chapter 10 verse 2 Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful,
but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of
the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Pastor Nate
preaches from the word of God and he has a deep desire to share the
good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The church meets at the Gilmanton Town Offices, 2nd
floor, 503 Province Road. Services start at 9 am and childcare is
available for children 5 and under. If you would like to know more
about the church before you attend a service you can visit
www.harvestbiblegilmanton.org.
Sunday, March 31 is Easter Sunday and there is no better time than
now to come and worship with us.
