its series of Sunday evening services. We want to graciously thank
Reverend Christopher Stevens, Pastor Henry Frost, Pastor Linda
Bolton, Reverend Alfred Page, and accompanists Pastor Henry Frost

Also thank you parishioners, for your contribution of refreshments

First Congregational Society in Gilmanton Church Service
The September church service of the First Congregational Society in
Gilmanton will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 4:00 pm at
the Smith Meeting House. The Reverend Sidney Lovett of Holderness,
New Hampshire, will officiate and we will have Harriet Coupal as our
organist. Refreshments will be served after the service in the
meeting room downstairs and there is plenty of free parking. Please
come and bring your friends and family to this non-denominational
service.
Reverend Lovett, a former NH State Representative, has received the
Granite State Award for Public Service and was nominated by
President Reagan to the Inaugural Board of the United States
Institute of Peace in 1985. He was also instrumental in the
creation of the Sid Lovett Fund for The Center For The Environment
for the purpose of supporting the production of professional, high
quality materials developed from student and faculty research at
Plymouth State University.
The First Congregational Society was formed in 1774 and that year
built the oldest church in Gilmanton which became the Smith Meeting
House in honor of the first minister to serve there, Reverend Isaac
Smith. Today, the Smith Meeting House, located on Meeting House Road
off Route 140 approximately 3.5 miles east of Route 107, is on
the National Register of Historic Places.

Letter
The Gilmanton Old Home Day Committee wishes to thank all those who
attended and volunteered their time to make our 114th a real
success. It takes many hands to put this event together and we are
sincerely grateful to all who participate. We offer extra thanks to
stalwart fire keepers, John Provencal and Alan Witham who rigged up
a system to keep the fires from drowning during the torrential
downpours on Friday afternoon. Their Yankee ingenuity paid off. The
bean hole beans were perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic!
Thanks guys!
It is important to acknowledge our sponsors. This year we had 75
individuals and area businesses who sponsored our event through the
purchase of ads for our booklet. Their piece is vital to keeping OHD
an annual event and for that we offer our sincere gratitude.
Another OHD behind us means the start of the next one. We hope
you’ll join us for the 115th in 2013. On Thursday, September 20th at
7 pm we will have our wrap-up and planning meeting for OHD 2013. All
meetings are held at Smith Meeting House and are open to the public,
so please join us if you’d like to get involved.
With Sincere Thanks,
The Gilmanton Old Home Day Committee
