The Gilmanton School Craft Fair Is Back And Applications

Are Being Accepting!


The Gilmanton School PTA is reviving the Gilmanton School Craft Fair to be held at the Gilmanton School on Saturday, November 24th. Crafters are needed, please contact Audra Kelly at (603) 267-8978 or via email at [email protected] and Sarah Meserve at [email protected] for an application form. Table prices have been reduced to $40 each. Proceeds benefit the children of Gilmanton School through the Gilmanton School PTA. The Gilmanton School PTA is dedicated to funding field trips and other enrichment programs for the students of Gilmanton School. Please mark your calendars for a day of shopping with our local artisans!


The Gilmanton School PTA is also hosting its Annual Halloween Bingo Night at Gilmanton School on Friday, October 26th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Wear your favorite costume for a night of Bingo and winning fun prizes.  Food and drinks will be on sale. The cost is $5 per person, all ghouls and goblins under the age of 5 are free. Proceeds benefit the children of Gilmanton School through the Gilmanton School PTA. The Gilmanton School PTA is dedicated to funding field trips and other enrichment programs for the students of Gilmanton School.

 



Delicious Mysteries For Gourmet Detectives Continues

At Gilmanton Corner Library


The Gilmanton Corner Library has all the ingredients for a gourmet read! Library Staff have chosen their favorite culinary mystery and for each week of October an author, book, recipe and treat will be featured at the Corner Library.


Julie Hyzy’s research into the backstage kitchen secrets of the White House gives her mystery series a special flavor that will make you hungry for more. Other authors to be featured: Joanne Fluke “Apple Turnover Murder,” “Killer Mousse” by Melinda Wells, “Sprinkle with Murder” by Jean McKinlay, and New Hampshire’s own mystery author, Lorna Barrett, “Sentenced to Death”. All the books are deliciously exciting!


We have a few library anniversary glass ornaments left ($10) if you are starting your Christmas shopping early. Stop by and pick one up as we will not be ordering more. Library magnets ($5) also make good stocking stuffers!


All Halloween books and DVD’s are set out for your scary night pleasure including the new best seller “Vampire Hunter” by Seth Grahame-Smith. Stop by for a spell!


To reserve a book or request a book call 267-6200 Monday and Thursday 2 - 8, Wednesday and Friday 2 - 6, and Tuesdays 2 - 4.


Winter hours begin November 1, Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00 - 5:00, Saturdays 10:00 - 12:00.

 



GCC Food Pantry And Thrift Shop News


The colors of fall, red, yellow, orange and if you mix red and yellow you get orange. So I guess we should have 50% Off  Red and Yellow barbs from September 24th thru October 13th to celebrate the arrival of fall and its wonderful colors!


Come in and check out all of our gorgeous clothing for the fall and winter seasons.  On Good Morning America a few weeks ago, Tim Gunn let us all know that the must have item for this fall and winter is a Blazer. Well, we have a great assortment of lovely blazers and suits with skirts or pants to add to your closet. If you are a working women, come in and checkout our great selection of wonderful dresses, suits, blouses, and pants.


Why pay department store prices when you can get a beautiful, and maybe name brand, outfit for so much less at the GCC Thrift Shop. We also have a great selection for men and children in the shop and if it has a Red or Yellow barb it will be 50% Off from September 24th thru October 13th. You will also want to checkout our shoe selection. So come on in and shop for some great additions to your wardrobe for the fall and winter and get 50% Off  Red and Yellow barbs. Our clothing quality is like that of a consignment shop, so come and see what we have to offer for the entire family. 


The GCC Food Pantry has begun to collect non-perishable food items for our holiday food baskets.  Some suggested items for donation are:  bottled juice, canned peas/green beans/corn, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, canned fruit, cereal, canned turkey gravy, breakfast muffin mix, coffee, cocoa, pickles and olives. If you would like to donate money to purchase perishable items for the baskets, please mail your check to GCC Food Pantry, PO Box 6, Gilmanton IW, NH 03837. If you have donations of food for the pantry it can be brought into the Food Pantry during business hours or left in one of our collection boxes.  Boxes are located at the Gilmanton School, Academy Building and at the Year Round Library.


We have also started to collect winter outerwear for children from infants to teenagers. We are looking for new or very gently used and clean winter jackets, snowpants and boots for girls and boys in sizes from infant to adult (for teenagers).  If you have donations for our winter clothing program we ask that you drop them off at the Thrift Shop during our business hours only.  If you are unable to get to the Thrift Shop when it is open, you may contact Jane Sisti at 364-7437.


We are located on Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works, across from the Iron Works Market.  We are open on Monday  1pm – 5pm, Wednesday 3pm – 7pm, and Saturday 10am – 2pm.  Parking is located in the Gilmanton Community Church parking lot just west of the shop.


We thank you for your continued support of the Food Pantry and all of its programs.  Remember that sales from the Thrift Shop go to support the Pantry.

Upcoming Events At The Gilmanton Year Round Library
Children’s Room


• October  2nd - Silly Story Time for Kindergarten and First Graders. You’re never too old for story time! Come listen to some silly stories and make a fun craft to take home.


• October  4th - Duct Tape “Crafternoon”. Learn to make duct tape flowers, wallets and other items  with this popular craft staple.


• October 9th - Magic Tree House Book Club for 2nd - 4th graders. We will be meeting to discuss Mary Pope Osborne’s “The Knight At Dawn” and explore the medieval era through fun crafts, games and activities. Preregistration is required.


• October 11th - Lego Club. Enjoy an afternoon of building with other fans of this popular brick! Creations will then be put on display in the Library. Donation of your unwanted Legos would be greatly appreciated.


• October 16th - Book Club for 5th - 8th graders. We will be meeting to discuss “Rapunzel’s Revenge” and “Calamity Jack” both graphic novels (Think comic book!) by Shannon and Dean Hale. Preregistration is required.


All the above programs will be held from 3 - 5 pm and a snack will be provided.


• October 19th - Halloween party for children aged 8 and older 6 - 8 pm. Donuts on a string, wrap the mummy, gut the pumpkin, costume contests and more!

October 2012 Gilmanton Year-Round Library Press Release


As autumn turns our world into a crimson hue, The Gilmanton Year-Round Library welcomes you to join us in a myriad of events. To kick off October on the 4th at 7 pm we take you back in time to hear the history of the “Bad Boys of Literature.” From Mark Twain to Dennis the Menace, learn how NH played a role in the creation of this genre.


On the 11th join our Crafting for the Clumsy as we create spooky specters out of cheesecloth to haunt our homes! Sign up required.


On the 16th at 7 pm we have invited back the owner of Bird Depot to continue his tales of birding and to teach us more valuable tips of the trade.


On the 18th we had invited Reiki Master and Spiritual Intuitive Kimberley Hancock to host a discussion on the differences between ghosts and spirits at 6 pm.


On the 22nd we will hold our monthly Movie Matinee at 1:30, call for details.

 
To finish off the month on October 25 at 6 pm we are offering a Beginner’s Course in Astrology. Come, unlock the secrets to your personality. Sign up required.
