Photographic Exhibit By Thomie Dombrowski At
GYRL
Join us at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library on
Saturday October 8th as we welcome a photographic exhibit by Thomie
Dombrowski from 1-3 pm. There will be light refreshments served.
Thomie R. Dombrowski grew up summers at his
grandparent’s home, in Lower Gilmanton. Thomie’s love of Gilmanton
continued to grow even after the sale of his grandparent’s home. Now
much to Thomie’s delight, he is a permanent resident of Lower
Gilmanton.
Thomie did not start shooting photos until later in
life, but it quickly became his passion. His primary focus is on
nature, flowers in particular. For this showing, he has decided to
show some of the everyday things that anyone can find in Gilmanton.
Some of them are in plain sight while others you need to search out.
Thomie’s comment in regards to this collection is,
"Folks will look at these photos and say this is nothing special, I
can do that". To which he replies, "You are right!! And I encourage
everyone to go out, look around, and capture their world on film".
To the young people of Gilmanton in particular, he says, "Put down
your game controllers, take a break from texting and put a camera to
your eye. Find and enjoy, the beauty of Gilmanton and the world
around you. Simply take the time to look through the lens and you
will be surprised at what you might find in your own back yard."
All of the photos are available for sale and there
will be a photo album for you to look through and choose those you
wish to purchase. In addition, there will be note cards available
for sale. The note cards are 5x7 and are photo quality so you can
frame them. We will be donating 10% of any sales.
We hope to see you there!
Letter
On August 28, 2011, our house suffered extreme
damage due to the hurricane, and we had to evacuate immediately.
My husband Don, our 14-month-old daughter, Deanna,
our cat, and I were faced with being homeless, and it was
overwhelming. If it were not for the wonderful people in the town of
Gilmanton, we are not sure how we would have made it through that
day, and the difficult weeks that have followed.
We would like to thank the Gilmanton Fire
Department, Darryl and Linda White of Alton, Mike and Sue Kirwan,
the O’Malley’s, Bob Potter and sons, J.R. Stockwell, George and
Sandy Burbank, the wonderful staff at Marriott in Gilford, Bob
Flanders, the Gilmanton Iron Works postmaster, and especially the
Lander family, who reached out to us and offered us a more permanent
living arrangement. You were all there for us when we had no idea
what to do, and we are so thankful.
So many others have sent us cards and have offered
us support, and we would like to thank you as well. The Gilmanton
Women’s Club, Wayne and Martha Robie of Allenstown, Brenda McBride,
the Red Cross, the folks at Citizen’s Bank in Pittsfield, and our
wonderful family that does not live in this immediate area but came
up here to help us move and watch Deanna in the garage as we went in
the house to sift through the mess...
I do apologize if I did not name everyone, but I
just wanted to let people know how much we appreciate everything.
Sincerely,
Don, Donna and Deanna Rondolet
