The Gilmanton Old Home Day Committee will hold a planning session on Thursday, May 21st at Smith Meetinghouse. All meetings are held on the third Thursday at 7 p.m. from April to July. Volunteers are needed. Come join us as we plan for our town’s 111th Old Home Day celebration. For more info contact Lori Baldwin at 435-7715.

The Gilmanton Iron Works Library will host its first book and bake sale of the year on Saturday, May 30 from 9:30 a.m. – noon. We have a wide variety of books for sale, including newer hard and soft cover books. We’ll also have for sale an assortment of home-baked pies, cookies and other goodies.

The library is now open on Saturdays from 9:30 – noon, and on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. Expanded hours will be offered later in the summer, including the popular children’s story hour on Tuesdays.

If you checked out books for winter reading (and/or if you’ve found some overdue books from last summer), please return them so others may enjoy them this summer.

Gilmanton Artists And Garden Tour

Gilmanton artists and gardeners invite the public to share a summer day, beautiful gardens, unique art works and a delicious box lunch on July 25th in Gilmanton. This is Gilmanton’s 4th garden tour to benefit the Gilmanton Year-Round Library.  The tour not only highlights new gardens, but new to this year’s tour will be local artists creating works of art in the gardens  including woodcarvings, hooked rugs, watercolor paintings, lithographs and textile art.

Save this summer date to visit the gardens and artists of Gilmanton, enjoy a savory lunch and tour the award winning Gilmanton library. Tickets are $15 and the optional lunch is $5.  For more information or to make a reservation, call Carolyn Dickey at 267-6098 or Sue Barr at 267-1905.
