Society Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Church Society is being held Monday, April 27, 2009,
at 7:30 PM at the
meeting house in Lower Gilmanton.
Reminder for members new business to be discussed.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation
to come to our Consignment Store called “To Be Continued.” We are
located at 1795 Rt. 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works, directly across
from the Police Station. We have an eclectic collection of
housewares, pet supplies and clothes.
We are accepting consignments. Please call 498-0501 to set up and appointment.
We will be opening Friday, May 1st. Our hours are Friday, 9-1; Saturday and
Sunday, 1-5. See you there.
Gilmanton Fire Department
On Monday
April 13, 2009 around noontime, the Gilmanton and Belmont Fire
Departments were dispatched to a reported multiple vehicle accident on Route
106 near A.E.
Mitchell.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed as a multiple vehicle accident with
several patients, declaring this a Mass Casualty Incident bringing
ambulances, heavy rescues and fire engines from Laconia,
Gilford, Tilton-Northfield, and Loudon and three helicopters, two from
Boston Medical and one from DHART (Dartmouth).
Additional paramedics and medical personnel responded from Gilmanton, Belmont, Laconia, Gilford and Loudon
A total of nine
patients were treated and eight patients were transported to Lakes Region General
Hospital,
Concord
Hospital, and Franklin Regional
Hospital and flown to area
trauma centers by ground ambulances and helicopters.
Bill
Staines Tickets Going Fast
Here’s your chance to catch one of the best musicians on the folk scene
today. On Saturday, May 16th, 2009, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., the Seventh Grade
Students will host the legendary singer-songwriter Bill Staines
at the Gilmanton Academy Building
located at the corner of Rt. 107 and Rt. 140.
For over thirty-five years, Bill
has traveled back and forth across North America,
singing his songs and delighting audiences at festivals, folksong societies,
colleges, concerts, clubs and coffeehouses. A number of
Bill’s songs have been recorded by other artists including:
Peter,
Paul, & Mary,
Makem and Clancy, Nanci
Griffith,
Mason Williams,
The Highwaymen, Glen
Yarborough,
Jerry Jeff Walker
and others. Bill has recorded
twenty-two of his own albums, fifteen of which are still in print. Radio and
TV appearances have included A Prairie Home Companion and a host of local
programs on PBS and network TV. Bill
continues to drive over 65,000 miles a year from
Ontario
to Texas and Alaska
to New Hampshire,
doing what he loves, bringing music to people. You can check out his website

Bill will be performing some of his
classics as well as a sampling of his newly released album, Old Dogs.
Tickets for the show are just $10. They will be available at the Sundial
Shop in Laconia
and The Gilmanton Corner Store until May 13th, and at the Gilmanton School
Main Office until May 15th. Dessert and non-alcoholic drinks will be
available.
