Town Hall Renovation Feasibility Study Committee

Submitted By Israel Willard
At the 2008 Town Meeting $20,000 was appropriated for a Feasibility Study to evaluate the possibility of renovating the Town Hall for the Gilmanton Police Department.

The Selectmen appointed a committee. The Committee first reviewed the 1987 Building Use Study. From that they determined there are three options to be considered:

1. Expanding and renovating the current Police department, on that level.
2. Utilizing the main or meeting room level for the Police Department.
3. Utilizing the second level, which would require an elevator.

The Committee interviewed and selected an architect, Bruce Ronayne Hamilton Architects of New Ipswich, NH. The firm is now in the process of viewing the Town Hall and conferring with the Police Chief concerning Police Department needs. The architect will evaluate the options identified by the committee and any others they might propose. The committee and the Selectmen will review the architect’s suggestions, drawings and cost estimates and collectively determine which option, if any, is feasible.
It is the goal of the Feasibility Study Committee to keep the Taxpayers of Gilmanton informed. Look for updates in the future.

Join The Celebration

On December 10, 2007, the Board of Selectmen accepted a conservation easement on 9 acres of land on NH Rte. 129, Sanborn Hill Road and Brown’s Pond given to the town by Danny Webster. The parcel is to be known as the William Webster Memorial Forest in memory of Danny’s father from whom Danny inherited the land. This beautiful parcel of land will forever protect the considerable undeveloped frontage on NH Rte. 129, Sanborn Hill Road and Brown’s Pond which is just downstream of Rollins Pond. In honor of Danny Webster, the Gilmanton Conservation Commission is hosting a celebration on Sunday, November 9, at 2 p.m. when a new sign marking the conservation easement will be unveiled. Parking is at the Kelley Schoolhouse on Sanborn Hill Road. Light refreshments will follow in the schoolhouse. We very much hope that you will join us for this event.
