Lower Gilmanton Community Club

Short meetings were held on August 14th and September 11th, with five to eight members attending.


President Nancy Potter opened the meeting with the reading of the “Homemaker’s Creed.” Treasurer and Sunshine Reports were given. There was no Secretary’s Report.
Plans were made for the Fall Outing on October 10th. We will be going to Manchester to the Lego display of the city and have lunch at the Olive Garden. Please meet at Nancy’s by 10:00 a.m. to carpool.


We will have our Annual Fall Pot Luck Supper on October 25th at 6 p.m. at the Clubhouse. Children are to come in costume. Please bring a dish to share and enjoy good food, friends, games, and prizes. Please mark your calendars.


Hope to see a good crowd there.


Old Home Day was a great success and a beautiful day. Winners were: Quilt, Kathy Seaman, Loon Pond Road, Gilmanton; Food Basket, Paulette Brooks, Alton.

 


 

Gilmanton School Partners With Growkids To Raise Money, While Raising Environmental Awareness


Help Gilmanton School “go green” and support their school this year! By partnering with Growkids to “help children heal the earth”, Gilmanton is making a conscious effort to provide our community with products that are environmentally friendly as well as desirable. Gilmanton has established a “green goal” to raise funds for their projects throughout the 2008-2009 school year. Obituaries


 

Donald P. Kelley


Gilmanton -
Donald P. Kelley, 86, of Province Road, died October 1, 2008, at Concord Hospital following a brief illness.


Donald was born in Gilmanton, the son of the late Charles G.. and Hattie Kelley. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the University of New Hampshire Class of 1950. He also was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran.


He lived and worked in the Binghamton, New York area for many years and worked for the New York State Electric & Gas Company for 23 years as the Manager of Residential Market Service before retiring in 1983 back on family land in Gilmanton. 


He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield, the Lower Gilmanton Baptist Church, and served on the Gilmanton Planning Board for several years.


Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time on his family’s land, gardening, camping, skiing, hiking, and golfing.


He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Rogers) Kelley of Gilmanton; a daughter Susan Leclerc and husband, Ronald of Gilmanton; a grandson, Ryan Leclerc of Gilmanton; brothers, George Kelley of Concord and John Kelley of Wenham, MA;  sisters, Harriett Kelley of Concord and Mary Gale Alex of West Yarmouth, MA; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.


He was predeceased by a daughter, Betsy Mary Kelley and a sister, Charlotte K. Pearson.


A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, Gilmanton. The Rev. David Stasiak, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield will officiate.


In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Donald Kelley Memorial Fund c/o the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield, Main St., Pittsfield, NH 03263 or the Lower Gilmanton Baptist Church PO Box 521 Gilmanton, NH 03237.


The Perkins & Pollard Memorial Home, Pittsfield, is assisting with arrangements.
