Epsom NH News

August 9, 2017

Today, August 9, the Epsom Public Library will be showing the movie “Wild Oats” at 1:30 for the movie matinee.  Everything changes for Eva when she receives a life insurance check accidentally made out for $5,000,000  instead of the expected $50,000.  She and her best friend take the money and head out for the adventure of a lifetime.  Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange star in this fantasy flick.

The Adult Summer Reading Program comes to an end on Tuesday, August 15 at 7:00 with a performance by the Mike Rogers Trio.  Hailing from Maine, blind songwriter, guitarist and poet Mike Rogers presents scenes and characters in his life of seventy plus years.  His show is laced with “wry humor” as he paints portraits of people in song, story and poetry with his guitar and harmonica. This program is a fitting end to successful summer programs.

Ivy Green Rebekah Lodge #36 is looking for pie donations for this years Old Home Day supper on Sat. August 12th at Webster Park.  If you would like to donate, please call Vickie at 736-4707 or Jeanne at 736-9240. Double crust fruit pies (homemade or store bought) can be left at the small building by the Pavilion on Sat. August 12th. Thank you very much for your help!

Epsom Food Pantry

Good Morning. Another busy week at the Food Pantry.  The gardens are starting to produce and we are the lucky recipients. Summer squash and cucumbers so far.  We also received a nice donation of food from Dollar General.  All these contributions from folks are what keeps our Food Pantry in the good shape we are in.

I spoke with Ken this morning and he asked me to tell the members that on Saturday, September 2nd, the Pantry will be closed. This is also known as Labor Day. So plan ahead and we will resume the usual schedule the following Wednesday. If you have a problem you can always call me and I will try and help you. And be sure and attend our Old  Home Day. It is always a fun day and makes for great memories for the kids.

Until next time,
Priscilla

Letter To The Editor

A strange thing happened the other day. An otter crossed in front of me where there is no water. It’s been a pretty good summer so far, except for making hay. The ground is much dryer than one would think.

I don’t have a date yet, but we will be closing Echo Valley Farm Road in August and September for bridge installation.  We will also be closing Griffin Road for a few days.

We will be paving some of our troubled areas and doing some shim and overlay paving.

When we have confirmed dates we will let you know.

Sill looking for community service help!

Your Road Agent,
Gordon Ellis
