Epsom Public Library’s movie
matinee on Wednesday, September 6 at 1:30 is “The Zookeeper’s Wife.”
In 1939 Poland, Antonia Zabinska and her husband are successfully
running the Warsaw Zoo and raising their family. When the
country is invaded by the Nazis, they are forced to report to the
Reich’s newly appointed zoologist. To fight back on their own
terms the couple risks everything by covertly working with the
Resistance and using the zoo’s hidden tunnels and cages to save
families from Nazi brutality.
Epsom Food Pantry
Well, Old Home Day is over and a good friend to the Pantry, Don
Harty, was Citizen of the Year. Congratulations.
We have
had a busy week and the fresh veggies are making their way into our
Pantry and we are so grateful to you all. Yes, we have plenty of
canned veggies, but nothing as yummy as nice fresh squash or cukes.
Thank you.
We also have received some great donations this week
from Mr. and Mrs. Jon Moulton and from our old friend, Bob Hahn, and
a young lady from Loudon, Hannah Walden, who placed a Nothing Can in
our behalf and presented us with a can of coins. Lovely.
Also, again our neighbor, Dollar General, brought us another
donation from the store. Thanks again.
Do not forget we
are closed September 2nd, but open the following Wednesday as usual.
Until next time, Priscilla

Cherylann Arvanitis Earns
NAR Pricing Strategy Advisor Certification
Cherylann Arvanitis
with The Arvanitis Team of Century 21 Thompson Real Estate has
earned the nationally recognized Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA)
certification. The National Association of REALTORS® offers the PSA
certification to REALTORS® as determining property values depends
more than ever on professional expertise and competence, the best
use of technology, and a commitment to approach the pricing
assignment from various perspectives.
“The market demands
accurate property value assessments, so NAR is excited to provide
Realtors® with enhanced tools, education and expertise to determine
the most accurate value for a home and give their clients a leg up
when buying or selling,” said NAR President Tom Salomone,
broker-owner of Real Estate II Inc. in Coral Springs, Florida.
“Pricing Strategies: Mastering the CMA” is the required one-day
course for the PSA certification that provides REALTORS® with
knowledge and skills to select appropriate comparables and make
accurate adjustments, guide sellers and buyers through the details
of comparative market analyses and the underlying pricing principles
that inform them, and interact effectively with appraisers. In
addition to completing the course, participants are required to view
two required webinars. Once awarded the certification, REALTORS®
will be equipped to guide clients through the anxieties and
misperceptions they often have about home values. For more
information about the PSA certification, visit

Anybody else
tired of President Trump’s tweets, infantile/toddler cartoons, golf
outings coverage? I believe we need to focus on the economic
destruction the “Grand Ole Party” is up to.
Health care reform?
Republican majorities and President Trump are focused on ‘gumming up
the works’ rather than improving Affordable Health Care Act.
Do voters know the Kaiser Foundation just released a report stating
the uncertainty caused by Trump Administration “far outside the
norm” is leading health care insurers to increase premiums by double
digits in 2018? A CNBC report calls the increases a “Trump Tax”.
Quoting President Trump: “Nobody knew health care would be so
complicated.” I beg your pardon, Mr President, everybody knew, but
you.
Tax reform? A key provision of GOP tax reform is to
completely eliminate Inheritance Tax which, over a couple decades,
has been “rebranded” by Republicans as “the death tax”. Currently if
you are single, die leaving an estate of 5.49 million and “one
dollar(s)”, your Federal Inheritance/death tax is 40 cents. Because
of “avoidance strategies” a typical billionaire’s estate is taxed
around 17%. Inherited wealth is pretty much the definition of
“aristocracy” according to Thomas Jefferson and Adam Smith.
Infrastructure? Public/private partnerships are the Republican
goal. As governor of Indiana, now Vice President Mike Pence
succeeded in establishing a public/private partnership to extend
Interstate 69. Under the deal, the private sector contractor was
responsible for maintaining the highway for 35 years after
completion. The project is 2 years behind schedule with cost
overruns. The State wanted out of the deal. They succeeded in June.
It is not yet known if private contractor or taxpayers will maintain
the highway.
Immigration? Go to this website to see whether or
not President Trump’s grandfather or you would qualify to immigrate
to America:
