Epsom Food Pantry

Well, our Thanksgiving Baskets went well. I thought the baskets and their contents looked just absolutely wonderful. The only glitch we had was in the pick up of the baskets themselves. Some folks just did not make their pick up or send anyone on their behalf. Therefore, we were on the phone calling around and it was Monday night before the majority were picked up.

This can’t happen with the Christmas Baskets. They need to be picked up on December 22nd between 10AM and Noon.  So what that means, folks, is you must make arrangements in that time frame to have someone pick up for you, if you cannot make it.

We truly don’t mean to sound harsh, but you must remember all pantry personnel are volunteers and this is the last week before Christmas, so everyone is very busy. As you all know from times past, the baskets are great, so don’t let your family miss out.

At this time we want to thank all of you who have so generously donated to the Pantry throughout 2015. Thank You, Thank you, one and all, from the bottom of our hearts. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Remember: Dec 22nd 10:00AM to Noon.

Until next time,

Priscilla

Gloria H. (Johnson) Toothaker

Epsom – Gloria Helen (Johnson) Toothaker, 88, passed away peacefully at Harris Hill Center in Concord, surrounded by her family, on September 15, 2015, after a long illness.

The eldest child of Doris (Luce) and Albin Johnson, Gloria was born in Lowell, MA and graduated from Tewksbury High School.  She and her husband Roger raised their family in Billerica, MA, and after many summers at their cottage on Northwood Lake, built their retirement home on the Suncook River in Epsom.

She was honored by the American Rosie the Riveter Association for distinguished service rendered as a working woman of World War II and earned her CNA later in life working as a visiting care giver in the Epsom area.

Gloria and Roger loved travel and exploration, touring Europe, Scotland and New Zealand, as well as many road trips back and forth to Florida visiting friends.  She had a real eye for photography and was able to capture beautiful panoramic vistas.  She had an extensive collection of books and music and kept the most lovely flower gardens.  There was always a large puzzle that all were invited to help with and intricate knitting or crochet projects in the works.

Gloria was determined to make the most of her life and live it to the fullest.

Predeceased by her husband Roger, brother Carlton, and sister-in-law Virginia, Gloria is survived by her children, Janice Greenleaf and Carol Toothaker, both of Epsom, and William Toothaker of Windsor; 7 grandchildren, Michelle and her husband Mike, Crystal, Geoff, Amber, Will, James and Kt; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Aeven, Teanna, and Jonathan; siblings, Jay, John, Jo-Ellen and sister-in-law, Chris; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of her life was held by the family.  Graveside services will take place at the McClary Cemetery in Epsom.

Tom Petit of the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home is assisting with arrangements and offers an on-line guestbook at stilloaks.com.
