Epsom Food Pantry

Sorry I missed a week of reporting on our wonderful Food Pantry, but everything is going just great.  We have had some new families become members and the donations are just fabulous.  Just this past week I received a generous donation from an Epsom resident which is so gratefully received as it allows us to buy items at the Manchester Food Bank at a reduced rate.

We do all hope that the times that we are open are easy for our members to use, and if not, you need to let us know. We will do an evening if you want us to.  Just let me know and let me know if you are having any other food problems that we can help you with.

Until next time, Priscilla

Letter

To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield,

Still no legislative action this week, but I was successful with a number of bills on professional licensing. HB649, which has passed both the House and Senate, sets a statute of limitations for licensing actions. This is important because otherwise, your license could be under suspicion for years, and in many cases it’s very hard to prove your case after some years, since people forget or move away. Amusingly, this bill started because of a problem with the real estate appraisers, where several cases had dragged out for years - and now it doesn’t apply to them because federal regulations forbid any limitations!

HB654, which has also passed, sets the licensing fees for a nineteen small professional boards (including midwives, naturopaths, and funeral directors) in statute rather than in rules, simplifying the administrative process since the fees are either $55 or $110, and the staff is shared. This also resulted in fee decreases much sooner that if the boards had to act on them.

HB1168 updates the exams required for professional engineers, architects, and others, making it clear that the national organizations administer the tests and the boards decide which national test is approved in New Hampshire. This bill passed very quickly and quietly, with no opposition or amendments.

Interested readers can email me for my newsletter, which has more data than can fit here.
