Artisan For The Month Of November

David McGhee is our Artisan for the month of November. He was born and raised in California, after completing high school he joined and served in the US Navy.

Upon completing his tour of duty he became an appliance technician and in 1987 he started his own business.

Upon retiring in 2000 he had relocated to New Hampshire, throughout his life he has always loved wood working, then about 6 years ago he was introduced to intarsia woodcraft and turning. He has routed signs for the Pittsfield Historical Society’s Cemetery Sign Project and the Town Nature Trail along with various other wood working endeavors.

We are very glad to have Dave with us here at Valley Artisans. He has been a valued member. Our bathroom floor is very grateful to him, which he replaced last year so the toilet wouldn’t fall through. Since we are a co-op we all have to pitch in to keep the historic building standing. So come in Wednesday through Monday, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We are located at 10 Goboro Rd., Epsom NH, 1/4 mile east of traffic circle on routes 4/202 at first light take a left. #736-8200 www.valleyartisansnh.com

Epsom Boy Scout Troop 80

The Epsom Boy Scout Troop 80 is having a fund raiser to build two ice skating rinks at Webster Park in Epsom. The intention is to build a circle skating rink where everyone can skate freely and an ice hockey rink including sideboards so that hockey games can be played without interfering with the circle skaters. Webster Park is going to light these ice skating rinks on Friday and Saturday nights because the kids don’t have school the following days. The Boy Scout Troop has done many projects to benefit the Town of Epsom including roofing the American Legion, building a new concession stand, repairing the bandstand and just finished adding a second pavilion.

We believe that this will bring the town people to a central spot during the winter months when people are more likely to be inside and provide the youth in this town an inexpensive way to get exercise.

In order to raise funds for the materials we are looking for individuals and businesses to purchase signs that will be placed around the hockey rink. These signs will be 36” X 24”. The cost of these signs will be $250 for 2 years. Companies will be responsible for the cost of sign and must have the design approved by a Webster Park Board Member. We also will take personal donations and each person who donates $25 or more will have their name posted on an honor roll roster. We also will take any material donations and offers of assistance to set up and maintain the rinks.

For more information or for a sign sheet please contact: Peter Muise, Email: [email protected]   Phone: 435-5350.
