Chichester Town Library News

Tomorrow is the Preschool Story and Craft Hour, so bring in those preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. for an hour of stories, crafts, songs and even a snack.

Mary Frambach of neighboring Epsom will be displaying her watercolors on the library walls during October and November. Thanks, Mary, for brightening our space.

Monday, October 2nd is a meeting of the Down Cellar Poets’ Workshop for adult writers.  This focuses on contemporary poetry studies.  It is facilitated by Jimmy Pappas, who can be reached at 798-3410 for more information.

Save Saturday, October 14th, from 9-12 for “Sharing Memories of Lisa” at an Open House at the library.  Lisa, our Library Directory, made a mark on our community and in our hearts.  The memories that people wrote down and deposited in the memory box provided by our teens will be read during this timeframe.  There will also be an opportunity for attendees to share other memories.

The search for a new Library Director has begun.  The position is being posted on a variety of related websites.  It is a part-time position of 30 hours a week.

The library would like residents’ input on whether to re-start the Arts and Crafts group that used to meet.  Interested participants and leaders are asked to contact the library at [email protected] or call 798-5613 to let us know.

Historical Calendar To Benefit Chichester Food Pantry

Chichester 2018 calendar-scan.jpg

“Chichester Then and Now,” a 2018 calendar, has been designed by the Chichester Photo Group, in cooperation with the Chichester Historical Society.  The calendar is collectable, as it features archival photographs and a current picture, where possible, of both public and private sites in town.  The photos are accompanied by rich historical commentary from the Historical Society’s research.

The cost of the calendar is $20, with all profits from their sales to be donated to the Chichester Food Pantry.  The Chichester Library, partnering with the Photo Group, will display a sample calendar and accept orders and checks until Saturday, November 4, during regular library hours.  The Town Office at the Grange Hall on Main Street and the Chichester Central School will also have samples and order forms.

It is hoped that local residents will consider supporting the food pantry by purchasing this collectible calendar.  If there are questions, please call either Barbara Sinclair Pappas at 798-3410 or Gail Laker-Phelps at 798-5394.
