The Chichester Youth Association has been selected by the COMCAST
Corporation as a recipient for this year’s Comcast Cares Day. Please
join us to help improve Carpenter Park on Saturday, April 30th from
8am-12pm. This day will include projects for all ages, children as
well. We are looking to paint dug-outs, fix benches, weed the
infields, repair flower beds, additional trail work on the perimeter
trail, etc. There will be refreshments and snacks available
for all who participate. This is a great way for students to address
their requirement for Community Service hours while helping out for
a great cause.
Happy Birthday to Chris Millette on April
29, Joshua Stone on April 30, and Timothy Harris on May 1.
Chichester Grange Awards Night will be
Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at the Grange/Town Hall. This is the
time to honor and thank this year’s Community Citizen and other
folks who serve our area in important capacities. Past recipients,
family and friends of current recipients, and the general public are
all invited to this event. Refreshments will follow the
presentations.

Haven’t we all wanted to fly “free as a bird” at some point in our
life? Tomorrow, at 10:30, the New Hampshire Audubon Society
will be presenting their “Avian Adventures,” using mounted birds,
feathers, wings and other bird-related items. Students will
learn about bird habitat and also basic bird biology, as in how they
can fly. A live raptor winds up the show and is always a
fan favorite. What a great way to spend some time of that
school vacation time!
The Down Cellar Poets will be meeting
Monday, May 2nd, at 7:00 p.m.
The Book Club will be meeting at noon on
Thursday, May 5th.
The Library will be under construction, soon. A lift and
storage area will be incorporated at the rear of the library.
Copies of the drawing of the lift and addition are available at the
library. Parking may be a challenge during this time,
especially during the May used book and plant sale. We ask for
your patience and consideration during this construction time.
Some plants have been donated to the library by a generous donor.
They will be given to those who want them on a “first come, first
served” basis. The donor has suggested a small donation may be
made to the library for the plants.
A note and nod of congratulations to the Adult and Teen Craft Group,
which continues to schedule amazing programs. You have seen
their frequent specialty programs, including Ukrainian Easter Egg
Decorating, soap making, etc. They will be embarking on
making/weaving berry baskets in May. Consider becoming a
member of this active group! No idle hands here!
May 7th at 7 p.m. at the Grange, Dave Downs will be presenting his
program on clutter control. This entertaining presentation and
Mr. Downs’s magician background should help us all make our
unneeded/unwanted “stuff” disappear.
Other special May activities include an Authors’ Night on Wednesday,
May 18th, when four local authors have been invited to talk with
attendees about their books, as well as the writing and publishing
processes. Also, the Plant and Used Book Sale will be held on
May 21st. (We could use more books, if you have some you would
like to donate.)
