Happy Birthday to Tracie Davison on May 24.
On Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m. Chichester Grange will sponsor a
Memorial Day celebration at the Town Hall on 54 Main Street. It
will begin inside the hall to maximize acoustics and prevent sunburn
and end outside with the placing of a wreath in front of the
Veterans Memorial Stone. This ceremony is held on the traditional
Memorial Day to minimize conflict with observances in neighboring
towns on May 25.
The children of Lucille Randall are hosting an Open House for her
80th birthday and hope that she will be showered with cards. The
Open House will be on Sunday, May 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the
Chichester Methodist Parish Hall on Main Street. Please park in the
Town Hall parking lot and walk carefully across the street. If you
cannot attend the open house but would like to send a card, her new
address is PO Box 124, Epsom, NH 03234.
The Annual Yard Sale at the Chichester Historical Society is set for
June 6. They are accepting donations of items to sell. Call

Chichester Grange Awards Night
Left to Right – Police Chief Patrick Clarke, Joshua Shawver,
Kendra Jarvis, Pam Russell, Gordon Jones.
Chichester Grange held its Annual Awards Night on May 6 at the
Grange Hall. After the Grange opening ceremony Master Kevin Belval
turned the program over to Carolee Davison and Hannah West for
presenting the awards. Chichester Grange presents these awards each
year to thank representatives of the groups that support quality of
life in Chichester and the surrounding area.
This year’s Police Officer was Joseph P. Orlando. Joe has been an
active member of the Chichester Police Department for 15 years. He
has always been professional, honest, and qualified. He has
maintained a motivation skill unlike most, to anticipate and achieve
results as far as finding those that are breaking the law and
catching them. His ultimate goal has been to serve his community
with compassion and respect. As Officer Orlando was unable to attend
the meeting, Chief Patrick Clarke accepted the award for him.
The Postal Worker Award went to Pam Russell, a Chichester resident
who has worked at the Concord Post Office for 27 years. In addition
to her postal responsibilities Pam has volunteered at the Snack
Shack for the Chichester Youth Association and been a school
volunteer at Chichester Central School while her children were
enrolled there. She was the one of the first parents to be
fingerprinted so she could be a chaperone at the school.
The Educator of the Year was Joshua Shawver an eighth grade science
teacher at Pittsfield Middle-High School. In addition to his
teaching responsibilities he serves as the eighth grade class
adviser and is also one of the Drama Club advisers. Mr. Shawver is a
caring young man and an excellent representative of the teaching
profession.
Kendra Jarvis received the Outstanding Youth Award. Kendra is a
senior at Concord Christian Academy where she is an honor roll
student and an active participant in community service projects. She
has played on the Varsity Basketball team for four years, and in
March she received the Scholar Athlete Award given by the NHIAA and
the NHADA. Kendra is also active in her church.
This year’s Community Citizen Award was presented to the Jones Farm
and the family who farms it. The Jones Farm located on Pleasant
Street has 300 acres and approximately 100 head of Holsteins. They
are among the many farms in the northeast that sell milk to Cabot
Dairy. Bill and Freda Jones bought the property in 1952 and raised
their family there. Their son Gordon and his wife Marion took
ownership of the farm in 1996 and now run it with the help of their
daughters Jessica and Lindsey and Jessica’s husband Jesse Matras.
Jessica and Jesse have three small children so the next generation
is coming along. A farm is certainly a family endeavor.

Chichester Town Library News
Thanks to all who supported the Plant Sale/Used Book Sale, including
Millican Nurseries. This activity is always a wonderful opportunity
for gardeners, book lovers and the Library.
Thursday, May 21st at 10:30 a.m. is the story, music and crafts
session for preschoolers. The time to enjoy this activity is
growing short, as it is not scheduled during the summer. Make sure
you bring the little ones in for a wonderful program at the Library.
The Library will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in recognition of
Memorial Day. The Library salutes our veterans and all of those who
help to preserve our freedoms in this great nation. Thank you all
for your service.
It has come to our attention that not all Chichester
residents received a copy of the survey for strategic planning in
their edition of the Sun. If you did not receive one, please pick
one up at the Library or go to
www.chichesternh.org and then click on the
library link. If you want one mailed to you, please call the
Library at 798-5613. Completed surveys can be returned by mail or
dropped off at the Library, the Town Office or Chichester Central
School, as well as via the web. A special “drop box” will be
provided at the sites listed above. Thank you for taking the time
to express your vision.
Chichester Town Wide Yard Sale Saturday June 6th
Chichester Firefighters Association is once again sponsoring the
Chichester Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday June 6th, 8am-2pm.
There are several ways you can participate: If you want to come to a
central location, spots will be available at the lower Town Hall
parking lot. If you are having a sale at your home or business you
may have your yard sale location and description placed on a Town of
Chichester map. There is no charge for either of the above, but a
donation to the Firefighters Assoc. equipment fund would be greatly
appreciated. Lastly, if you have some items you want to get rid of,
but don’t want to have your own sale, the Firefighters Association
will accept donated items which we will sell to add to the equipment
fund. Donation of items will be accepted at the fire station the
week of June 1-5. No clothing or upholstered furniture please. You
may leave items by the front door if no-one is there. Pick up can
possibly be arranged.
Maps will be available for pickup at the fire station on Friday June
5th or at the Town Hall on Saturday the 6th. Once again, there is no
cost for any of this, but we are suggesting a donation to the
Firefighters Association Equipment Fund, which is used to buy
equipment for the fire-rescue department, beyond what is available
in the regular budget.
For more info on Yard Sale specifics contact Paul Sanborn at
608-6252, or sign up at the fire station.
Jim and Jean Fifty are retiring from Chichester Central School next
month after a collective 75 1/2 years of service to CCS. To honor
them, we are asking everyone to send cards to the school (219 Main
Street - Chichester, NH 03258). The plan and hope is to have a huge
basket of cards to present to them at the end of the year (June 18).
This is a SECRET - please don’t spill the beans! Please spread the
word to everyone who knows them so they too can contribute to this
fond farewell.
Chichester Heritage Commission
The Chichester Heritage Commission will hold its May meeting on
Thursday, May 21st. Joseph E. Davis, Arborist Representative from

Heritage Commission’s nursery, maintained by commission member
Robert McAnney. These trees are for roadside planting as part of the
commission’s beautification project. If you have a spot in mind,
please contact a commission member- or call Bob directly. Commission
meetings are held at the Chichester Town Library at 7 pm. The May
program will be in the meeting room. Entrance is at the rear of the
