The filing period for Town and School District officers ends on
January 30, 2015. File for School District office with Michelle
Plunkett, School District Clerk. File for Town office with Evelyn
Pike, Town Clerk. If you have an interest in Town Government, please
consider filing for office. Even if you are not elected, you have
indicated your interest and you may be asked to take an appointive
position when one is available.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, February 4, at 7 p.m.
upstairs in the Grange Hall. It will be Family and Community Night
with a program by Mary West. If last week’s talk by Steve Taylor
piqued your interest in Grange, climb the stairs and see what a
meeting is like.

Chichester - 2 Saturdays Cost You 8 Million Dollars
Do you pay a tax bill, have kids in school, want your roads plowed
or expect the police and fire departments to come when called? These
things cost money, lots of it. On March 7th and 14th Chichester
residents will authorize the Selectman and School Board to collect
and spend almost 8 Million of your dollars, over $3000 per resident.
Read that again, you and I must authorize all money to be spent, if
we don’t it cannot be spent. Are you concerned with your ever
increasing tax bill, come and vote. Think something is being ignored
and needs attention, come and vote. The budgets aside, there are
other items that will be voted on that need your vote.
At Town Meeting (3/14) we will be voting on a decreasing budget,
plus changes to the Road Agent Position and the Budget Committee.
I’m sure the roads and new ambulance will be discussed at length as
well. At School Meeting (3/7), we will vote on another budget
increase, more control of the SAU budget, and a new Teacher’s
contract, which no doubt will be a significant cost increase by
itself.
These items will increase your tax bill by hundreds
if not a thousand dollars or more. You might be surprised to know
that less than 100 people attend most of these meetings. Your vote
counts, you can make a difference. Is $8 Million worth a few hours
of your time in March? I hope so. For more information please

Chichester Town Library News
The Chichester Garden Club will meet at the Library tonight, January
28th at 7 p.m. The topic, a part of the Year of the Farm series,
will be, “Starting Seeds.” This meeting is free and open to the
public.
Pre-school Story and Craft “Hour” will be held on January 29th at
10:30 a.m. Enjoy a special time with your young one(s) at the
Library.
The Teen Advisory Group will be meeting on Saturday, January 31st at
10 a.m. The planning will continue for the group’s Oral History
project, as well as some on-hands learning and practice with the new
video camera to be used in the project.
The Craft Club for adults and teens will be meeting on Monday,
February 2nd at 6 p.m. Now that the holidays are over, this is a
great time to look at some long-term projects for those interested
in them. New members are welcome.
The Down Cellar Poets’ Workshop will be meeting on Monday, February
2nd at 7 p.m. The group focuses on the writing and study of
contemporary poetry and is for members of the Poetry Society of New
Hampshire and guests. Jimmy Pappas, a member of the Society and the
facilitator for the Down Cellar Poets’ Workshop, has been named the
winner of the recent poetry contest sponsored by the Society. We
congratulate Jimmy and look forward to seeing his poem in “The
Poets’ Touchstone,” the Society’s quarterly publication.

2 Important Dates
Thursday, February 5th and Saturday, March 7th present opportunities
for you to make a difference in our town. Thursday, February 5th is
the public hearing on the school budget which will be presented to
you for your vote on Saturday, March 7th.
Our last several school board meetings have been very well attended
by citizens. As a board we appreciate you coming to educate
yourself on Chichester’s budgeting process and for asking all of
your excellent questions and making such positive suggestions. That
education and discussion continues on Thursday, February 5th at 6:00
PM at the school where we will once again listen to your suggestions
as we present our budget to you.
It is always important to be there to vote on your school budget.
This year, how about joining so many of your neighbors at the
public hearing to directly offer us your feedback prior to the final
vote?
We are looking forward to seeing you at 6:00 PM on Thursday,
February 5th.

Thank you for all the greeting cards! We have all occasions and a
nice supply of extra envelopes. We can be a nice little place for
wrapping paper, gift bags, and party favors.
Everything in the store is half price, last Thursday of the month,
which happens to be January 29th!
If an item is 25˘, take two for 25˘! (no 12˝˘)
If anyone has a basketball they no longer need, we can inflate it
and pass it along. Plenty of requests, as well for ice skates. We
could also use a hand pump for inflating sports equipment.

Chichester Photo Group and its local partner, the Chichester Town
Library, raised $600 for the Chichester Food Pantry. Pictured are

Welcome Officer Bullock!
The Town of Chichester welcomes Officer Glen Bullock as the newest
member of the Chichester Police Department. Officer Bullock will be
performing part time patrols for the Town. Officer Bullock is also
an investigator for the State of NH Liquor Commission where he has
worked since 2011. Pictured here is Officer Bullock being
