The Chichester Methodist Church will have two Community Suppers in
December at the Parish Hall at 6:00. December 9th will be beef
stew and December 23rd will be chicken cacciatore. We
appreciate the attendance at the November suppers; they were a big
success. The suppers are free but donations are appreciated
and used towards future suppers.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday,
December 16, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.
The “Socks for Seniors” drive will end on December 17.
Purchase one or more pairs of socks in adult sizes, the more
colorful the better, and place them in the donation boxes at the
Chichester Library, the Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop or the
Pittsfield Library. The socks will be given to residents of nursing
homes at Christmas time. This is a national project being done
locally by Chichester Grange.
Happy Birthday to Zachary Harris on
December 14.
Chichester Grange would like to thank
everyone who participated in the November Penny Sale. The donations,
Christmas card sales, lunch and ticket sales added up to $101. With
a little additional help from the treasury, Chichester Grange was
able to sponsor two teenagers through Operation Santa Claus.

Town Library News
Friday, December 11th, the second in the series of classic movies,
“White Christmas,” will be shown at the Library at 2 p.m.
Also on December 11th, will be the final screening in the “Star
Wars” series, “The Return of the Jedi.” Starting at 6 p.m. at
the Chichester Central School, this event will feature a costume
contest. Kids and adults alike are encouraged to dress like
their favorite “Star Wars” character. This great series of
movies that lead into the release of the new “Star Wars” movie had
been an adventure for all who have participated. Again, our
thanks to Kate Dockham, the Chichester Central School Librarian, and
Lisa Prizio, Chichester Town Librarian, for their efforts.
Please consider bringing a donation(s) for the Chichester Food Bank
when you come to visit the Library. Although the need always
exists, it is so important to help our families in need during the
holidays and winter months and let them know they are not alone.
The Board of Trustees will conduct their
open meeting on Monday, December 14th at 3 p.m.
The Adult and Teen Craft Group is also
scheduled to meet on Monday, December 14th at 6:30 p.m.
Featured artists of the month are the young people who have come in
and participated in the Holiday Coloring Program. Thanks to
all of them who have helped to decorate our library.
Just a reminder: Closure of the Town Library for inclement
weather follows that of the school district.
Letter
To the Town of Chichester,
How was your tax bill? I want to thank the
Department heads for keeping within budget, and keeping the
departments running and organized, for realizing that the town’s
people are not CASH COWs.
Most everyone understands that we, the
people of Chichester, are very tired of increasing taxes. Every
single year taxes go up, and it’s the school budget, or should I
say, the lack of. The school board is out of control. They do as
they want, PERIOD!
Even though your tax rate dropped, the
school’s portion went up (AGAIN). The school board was asked to
create a committee last February. They waited until last month to
ask for volunteers. That committee should have been done months ago
so the members would not be overwhelmed with budget numbers, policy
and procedures.
We, the townspeople, need to take a stand!
Let’s take the life members off the board. We need new people, fresh
ideas, members that are willing to say no to the SAU wish list. We
need members not living the dream, but working in the real world,
understanding not everyone gets a yearly pay raises, cost of living
raises, or spiffs.
I can’t speak for everyone, I work a full
time job, and 2 part time jobs to make ends meet. To hear the school
board going after pay raises every year gets old. 2% one year, 3%
the next. Let’s talk health insurance, I pay $720.00 a month for my
2 kids and me. How much do the teachers pay? Town employees pay? Am
I the only one tired of this? I must be the only taxpayer in
Chichester not making 100k a year.

A Letter Of
Thanks
The Family of Eunice Bates would like to take this time to express
their thanks to the Town of Chichester for allowing us to use the
Grange Hall for the Celebration of Life we had for Eunice on
the 22nd of November.
We couldn’t have asked for a better
location. The size of the hall was perfect for the amount of people
who helped us celebrate her life.
A special thank you to the staff of St.
Paul’s School Food Service, who did an outstanding job, as usual,
with the food and refreshments.
Also, a word of special thanks to Eunice’s
two sisters and spouses for their kindness to help us give Eunice
the final farewell she so greatly deserved.
To Eunice’s grandchildren, whose
organization and decorating was outstanding! A heartfelt thank you!
Thanks to all who showed and all those who
couldn’t but still offered support and kind words.
Sincerely,
The Family of Eunice Bates
