REMINDER

“Secret Santa”

We have three more weeks that we are accepting applications at the police station for “secret santa.” Any questions call 798-4911. Please get your applications in as soon as possible, so that we might make this the BEST Christmas ever!!!

Don’t forget the “Socks for Seniors” boxes at the Chichester Library and the Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop. Another box has been added at the Pittsfield Library. Purchase one or more pairs of socks in adult sizes, the more colorful the better, between now and December 17, and place them in the donation boxes. The socks will be given to residents of nursing homes at Christmas time. This is a national project being done locally by Chichester Grange.

Noticed anything new at Carpenter Park? The Parks and Recreation Committee received grant funding a year ago, got permitted last month, and now construction has begun on a new building to replace the 35 year old Snack Shack. The plan is to make the building weather tight this year and complete the work next summer. The second feature is a new split rail fence adjacent to the perimeter trail above the steep rock slope. Materials have been funded by Chichester’s second LWCF grant and the labor was donated by volunteers.

Happy Birthday to Ed Millette on December 8.

Chichester Town Library News

Don’t forget the Pontine Theatre’s holiday performance on Saturday, December 5th at 1 p.m. at the Grange, 54 Main Street, Chichester, which will include “The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t,” by Ogden Nash and “Christmas Monks” by Mark Wilkins Freeman.  There is no admission and refreshments will be available.

Friday, December 4th, starts a series of classic movies at the Library.  (See accompanying article for more information).  Come join us for show time at 2 p.m. for the first movie, “An Affair to Remember.”

The next “Star Wars” movie will be on Friday, Dec. 4th, starting at 5:30 p.m., with the “Empire Strikes Back.”  Fencing will be the accompanying activity to help participants learn how to handle those light sabers. Thanks to Tracy at Concord Fencing for their assistance.  The program will be held at the Chichester Central School, 219 Main Street.

The Book Club will meet tomorrow, Thursday, December 3rd, at noon.

Pre-schoolers, kindergartners, and parents/caregivers will gather tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. for stories and crafts.

There is still time for kids up to 12 years of age to participate in the holiday coloring program.  The resulting art will become the featured art for the month, as the resulting pictures will be hung around the Library to help decorate for the season.

Classic Movies Come To Chichester Library We all know that winter tends to bring a feeling of isolation, as we tend to hunker down in our homes until spring.  But, the Chichester Library will be offering a Classic Movies Series on Friday afternoons to encourage those who might otherwise have little to do to come out and join a group for the pure love of great movies and fellowship with their neighbors.  All movies will commence at 2 p.m., unless otherwise announced, with the first showing to be on Friday, December 4th.

The movies scheduled are:

Dec. 4th – “An Affair to Remember”

Dec. 11 - “White Christmas”

Dec. 18 - “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Jan 8 – “My Fair Lady”

Jan 15 – “It Happened One Night”

Jan 22 – “Singing in the Rain”

Jan 29 – “To Catch a Thief”

Feb 5 – “South Pacific”

Feb 12 – “Casablanca”

Maybe you have seen them before and loved them; or, maybe you never had the opportunity to see them, until now.  We hope you will join us for a fun activity over the winter.
