It’s time to pack your picnic basket and head for Thunder Bridge.
The Chichester Historical Society’s annual picnic will be Monday,
July 8, at 6:30 p.m. Bring a sandwich and a lawn chair. The
Historical Society will provide a beverage and dessert. There will
be a brief presentation about the history of homes in the area, but
mostly this is a time to relax and chat with friends near this
historic bridge listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
If this is your first picnic, the bridge is located on Depot Road
which goes off Route 28 opposite the Chichester Country Store.
Happy Birthday to Karen Michael on July 4 and to Derek Duford on
July 6.
The Chichester Old Home Day Committee will meet on Thursday, July
11, at 7 p.m. at Carpenter Park. In case of rain the meeting will be
held at the Fire Station.
Can you volunteer an hour or two of your time to make Chichester’s
Old Home Day a success? Workers are needed to serve food, change
trash bags, park cars, and do the other tasks which make any event
run smoothly. This would be a good opportunity for students to earn
some service time. Contact Donna Chagnon at 798-798-5443.
There is a deadline of August 1st for reserving space at Carpenter
Park on Old Home Day (August 17). Contact Carol Frekey-Harkness at
798-5443 or see her at Frekey’s Dairy Freeze for a form to fill out.
There is a fee for vendors, but information booths for Chichester
organizations are free. Just fill out the form to reserve your
space.
The Chichester Grange Eat-Out will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at
The Windmill Restaurant on Concord Heights. Come at 6:30 p.m. and
bring an item for the food pantry. This will be the only time that
Chichester Grange meets in July.

We had several things to be thankful for last week. We are staying
in our location, which is good news for us and our patrons! A nice
young lady came in and bought a few things and insisted on paying
double. She said a long time ago, an organization such as ours had
helped her when she desperately needed it. Now she was in a
position to give back and enjoys doing so. Several people left a
little extra, so we could continue to help. Encounters like those
make it worthwhile to be a volunteer!
We will be closed Thursday, July 4th. Please have a safe and
wonderful holiday.
We are happy to be at 345 Suncook Valley Highway, Chichester and
open on Mon. 8-12; Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4.
Call us at 247-7191.
Chichester Historic Main Street Architectural Features Project
The Chichester Heritage Commission and the Chichester Photo Group
are working collaboratively on the Historic Main Street
Architectural Features Project. This project aims to document
notable and interesting historic and architectural features of Main
Street structures as they exist in 2013.
Architectural details of Main Street properties have been identified
by the Heritage Commission. Property owners have been contacted and
generously given permission to include images of their property in
the project.
Plans are to have a digital slide presentation and a photographic
exhibit at the Grange Hall, 54 Main Street in Chichester during Old
Home Day weekend, August 17 and 18. Light refreshments will be
served at the exhibit. Specific times for the exhibit will be
publicized at a later date. The photographs and
descriptions will also be displayed at the Chichester Town Library
at a later date.
The photographic planning, shooting and organizing is being
completed by volunteers from the Chichester Photo Group and the
Chichester Heritage Commission.
Donations are currently being accepted to underwrite the cost of
mounting the photographs for the exhibit. Send donations to the
Chichester Heritage Commission, 54 Main Street, Chichester, NH
03258. Checks should be made out to the Chichester Heritage
Commission.
