The Chichester Youth Association will be holding their monthly
meeting on Sunday, July 21st at 6 p.m. on the Main Street level of
the Town Hall. With soccer season right around the corner, please
take this opportunity to stop by the meeting and see what you can do
to help make this a season to remember.
The CYA is accepting registrations for soccer for
this coming season through July 14th but no later than August 1st.
If you have a child who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall,
they are eligible to play soccer. Registration forms are available
at

opportunity to get them in ASAP so that teams can be organized and
equipment purchased.
Chichester’s Old Home Day is Saturday, August 17, with set-up and
some events on Friday evening, August 16. This year’s theme is
“Happy Birthday, Carpenter Park” in commemoration of the Town
receiving the land from the Carpenter Family in 1963. If you would
like to be in the parade, call Carol Frekey-Harkness at 798-5443. If
you are able to volunteer for food service or trash pick-up or other
“chores” on the 17th, call Donna Chagnon at 798-5318.
The deadline for reserving space at Carpenter Park for Old Home Day
is August 1st. If you wish to be a vendor at Old Home Day on August
17 (no food vendors, please), contact Carol Frekey-Harkness at
798-5443 for a form. If you are a Chichester Department or
Organization who wants space on Old Home Day, you also need to fill
out a form to reserve a space but there is no fee involved.
The next meeting of the Chichester Old Home Day Committee will be
Thursday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at Carpenter Park. In case of pouring
rain the meeting will be held at the Fire Station.

Pillsbury on July 22.
Tour Gardens of Historic Chichester on July 20 from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date July 21 – rain or shine). Tickets are
$15 on the day of the event at the Chichester Historical Society, 49
Main Street. Advance tickets may be purchased for $12 by e-mail at

at the Chichester Library, 161 Main Street. The tour is self-guided
as you take pleasant drives along country roads and stroll through
lovely gardens. See them all or pick and choose, and be sure to
enjoy the Historical Society’s Monet theme sidewalk café with
delicious refreshments, plant sale, and floral Art Show by local
artists.
Friday, July 19th, at 6:30 pm, storyteller Gail Drucker, will be
sharing some of her best stories at the Chichester Town Library.
This event is part of our Summer Reading Program, “Dig Into
Reading.” We hosted Gail eight years ago, so we can testify that
Gail is one of the best storytellers in New Hampshire. This event is
open to everyone, don’t miss a great time.
Congratulations to Allison Briggs of Chichester, NH whom was named
to the University at Albany’s spring 2013 Dean’s List for
outstanding academic achievement. Allison recently graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany.

Poetry Fans! Keep cool with Summer Stanzas at The Chichester Library
on Friday, July 26, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., featuring Maren Tirabassi and
Neil English, who will be reading their poetry in tandem. Maren and
Neil collaborated on a spoken word CD Sticky Mittens and Angel Feet
with Yankee humorist Rebecca Rule in 2003. The readings will be
followed by music, homemade refreshments and an open mic for
musicians and poets. This is a free event. Call 798-5613 for more

Neil English, model T truck-driving poet and Vice President of the
Poetry Society of New Hampshire, recites his brand of poetry in
performance settings throughout New England and as far away as
Alaska and the Yukon Territories. His work has been published in
several anthologies, including The 2008 and The 2010 Poets’ Guide to
New Hampshire. He is variously a preservationist of historic
architecture, joiner, timber framer, humorist and family man. Neil
makes his home in Epsom, NH.
Maren C. Tirabassi, former Poet Laureate of Portsmouth, NH,
(2001-2003), is the author of eighteen books. Most recent is Gifts
in Open Hands, and forthcoming is From the Psalms to the Cloud. She
travels throughout the country leading writing workshops on poetry,
memoir and creative liturgy. In addition, she loves writing science
fiction and fantasy.
Obituaries
Margaret M. Mulcahy
Mrs. Margaret M. Mulcahy, 88, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the
Epsom Health Care Center after a period of failing health.
Born in Manchester on October 7, 1924, Margaret was the daughter of
George and Florence (Corson) Fox. She worked as an accountant for
MAC Finance and retired from the State of NH Department of
Personnel.
Mrs. Mulcahy was an avid reader and craftswoman. In addition to
crocheting, knitting, and sewing, she enjoyed ceramics and making
porcelain dolls.
She was the widow of Robert Mulcahy, Jr. who died in 2000 and is
survived by five children, Carl Hoyt of Chichester, Candi Myatt, Joy
Mulcahy and Shawn Mulcahy, all of Barnstead, and Bob Mulcahy of
Rochester; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three
great, great grandchildren; three siblings, Bill Barnard of Loudon,
Jim Barnard of Barnstead, and Betty Ford of Penacook; and nieces and
nephews.
A time of remembrance was held July 12, 2013 followed by burial and
graveside services at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
