The Chichester Town Library is planning on starting a LEGO CLUB.

The only thing stopping us is we need LEGOS.  I know how hard it is to give up these treasured toys, but if you have some and would like them to go to a good home, please donate them to the Chichester Town Library.  We are very excited to use our new meeting room for a weekly Lego Club.

We would like to thank all those who gave to the town food pantry during the month of March.

The family of Tina Mobbs is going to hold a Happy Birthday Open House on April 13th from 1:00 to 5:00 at her home on Horse Corner Road.  Tina is going to be 90 on April 17th.  We hope you can join us.

Now that Spring seems to have arrived, work on Carpenter Park begins at a furious pace. Read the next two items to see what is going on and how you can help.

Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon will be the fourth workday to dispose of the slash debris left over from the clear cutting of the new expansion zone at Carpenter Park.  If you have pledged volunteer support, we need you now.  If you did not pledge, now is the time to act.  Snacks, coffee, and water will be available at the park for volunteer workers. Please wear appropriate work clothes and gloves.  We wish to make safety a top priority. Children under 13 must be supervised at all times by their parents.  There may be heavy machinery and cutting tools on site. Please let us know if you plan to attend, even for a partial day. The volunteer coordinator contact is Frank Harrison. Please register at www.webharrison.net/carpenter-park or call 603-798-3105.

The Chichester Youth Association (CYA) has been selected as a recipient of a program that the COMCAST Corporation promotes called Comcast Cares, where they reach out to help a local non-profit organization to better the community.  This will happen on Saturday, April 27th from around 8AM-12PM and we will have a number of projects around Carpenter Park that we will be working on to brighten things up.  The way that this works is they actually make a donation towards materials in advance and then based upon the number of people that show up, they will make another donation in the future, so it’s imperative that we get as many people to participate as possible.  Any amount of time is helpful and this is an event for the whole family.  Kids are encouraged to participate and we will have projects for all including painting, gardening, building, field maintenance, etc.  Please feel free to contact Joe Montambeault @ [email protected] or 603-566-1507 for more info on how you can help.  Please help to make this a huge success and the park something that we can all be proud of.

Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, April 17, upstairs in the Grange Hall. There will be a Youth Night supper at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Submitted By Carol Hendee

I saw a good commercial the other day. A lady bought three new pairs of shoes, went home to put them in her closet. Husband has a sign ready “When you buy something new, you must donate/recycle same amount of old!” Off she went to the thrift shop with three old pairs of shoes!  We would like to be the thrift shop where you donate your “exchanged” items!

Now that the snow is gone, we can accept bicycles, scooters, outdoor toys as it is time for the kids to get out and play!  We closed out winter items by donating several men’s shirts and some jackets to a shelter.  If you know someone in need of clothes (babies and up) let us know and we can help.

We are at 345 Suncook Valley Highway (Route 28) Chichester. Our hours are  Mon. 8-12; Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4; and Sat. 10-4.

Call 247-7191 for the Attic Thrift Shop. If you have a question about sewing, crocheting or knitting for Baby Threads, please call 934-0087 and Sylvia Brooks will answer your questions.

Chichester Grange

Chichester Grange met on Wednesday, April 3, upstairs in the Grange Hall. Mary West was judged the winner of the baking contest. She will need to bake her coffee cake again in June for judging at the Pomona Grange level.

A communication from the Historical Society was shared about a possible citizen planning session in the future with regard to making the property near the Town Hall into more of a Community Center. Property in the area may be available for purchase and the current Town Offices and Historical Society building are outgrowing their space. Chichester Grange may want to take part in future planning sessions if they occur.

Members spent time planning for upcoming events: The Awards Night on May 15, the Penny Sale on May 18, and the Memorial Day observance on May 30. The next meeting will be Youth Night, and there will be a turkey supper preceding the meeting to raise money for NH State Grange Youth Funds.

Mary West was in charge of the Family and Community Night program. It was built around the theme of Coffee with a poem by Arthur Gray, many interesting facts about coffee (the world’s second largest export item), a bean bag game, and a song “Taylor, the Latte Boy.”

The evening ended with refreshments of coffee cake from the baking contest supplemented with fruit and cheese. The next meeting will be April 17 with a supper at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7.
