Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Submitted By Carol Hendee

This may be news for our newer patrons and a reminder for others.  The Attic Thrift Shop supports Baby Threads of NH, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and affiliate of the United Way.  The Attic, as well as Baby Threads, are supported by volunteers and your tax deductible donations. Don’t hesitate to ask for a form for tax purposes. Visit the Baby Threads website at www.babythreadsofnh.com.

We have requests for a few items: a checkers set (no batteries, just brains needed); fingernail polish, for repair purposes and fashion; ice grippers, large, to aid walking in icy conditions; and a cane with an ice tip. We also have someone collecting old wind-up clocks and watches that no longer work. They use the parts for repairs. Seems there is a recyclable use for just about everything!

We sell rags, which are cotton material from ripped or stained clothing, no buttons or zippers, for 50¢ a bag.

We are on Route 28, Chichester, close to the Pittsfield line and are open Mon. 8-12; Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4.  The Attic phone number is 247-7191 and Baby Threads is 934-0087.

Mrs. Barbara Clark

Mrs. Barbara Clark, 79, of Pleasant Street, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Concord Hospital.

Born in Haverhill, MA on February 18, 1933, Barbara was the daughter of the late Royce and Doris (Jones) McGowen.  She attended Coe-Brown Academy and had spent her lifetime in Chichester, Pittsfield and Northwood.  Barbara and her husband also made a second home for themselves in High Point, FL.

Before her retirement she had worked for A&P and IGA in Pittsfield, and Shaw’s in Concord as a cashier.

Barbara enjoyed all kinds of crafts and took an interest in community affairs as well.  She was a member of the Pittsfield Historical Society and a former member of the Pittsfield Budget Committee.  She also belonged to TOPS NH #38 in Pittsfield.

Her greatest joy though was her family.  Barbara lost her beloved husband of 63 years, Leslie Clark, in September 2011. She is  survived by 7 children, Patricia Freeman and her husband John, Terry Clark and Pamela, and Sandra Courtemanche and Russell, all of Pittsfield, David Clark and Lisa of Hendersonville, NC, Connor Clark and Kathleen Bovay of Kerrville, TX, William Clark and Maryanne of Deerfield, and Robbie Clark and Nicole Smith of Gonic; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Bruce McGowen of Tacoma, WA, Gary McGowen of Nottingham, and Bill McGowen of Northwood; a sister, Sue Benoit of Nottingham; and nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorial donations should be made to Chichester Fire Fighters’ Association, 22 Main Street, Chichester, NH 03258.

A memorial gathering was held Tuesday, February 19th  from 4-7 PM at the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Hwy in Epsom.  Services were conducted at 6:30 PM.  Committal will take place at Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield in the spring.
