Thanksgiving Baskets
Thanksgiving food baskets are available for any Chichester resident
that has a need for assistance. Applications can be done through the
Chichester Welfare Office at 798-3278. Please call and leave a
message and we will get back to you.
On Wednesday, November 20th, from 5-7 pm the Chichester
Firefighters Association will be hosting a spaghetti dinner at the
Chichester Fire Station. All donations and proceeds will go directly
to benefit the Chichester Food Pantry. Any donations of money and
non-perishable items are needed and appreciated. We hope to see you
all there to enjoy some great food and to help a great cause.
Lucille Carson Noel has been selected to receive a 65 & Up Service
Award at the 2013 Spirit of New Hampshire Awards Ceremony. This
year’s ceremony will be held from 6:45 to 8:30 pm, on November 14th,
at the Capitol Center for the Arts (44 South Main Street in Concord,
NH). Doors at the Capitol Center for the Arts will open at 5:00 pm
with light refreshments served. There is no charge to attend the
2013 Spirit of NH Awards Ceremony and we hope to see many Chichester
residents there to support Lucille.
Happy Birthday to Lauren Lane on November 17.
The Chichester Youth Association will be holding their monthly
meeting on Sunday, November 17th, at 6 p.m. in the Town/Grange Hall.
All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, November 20, at 7 p.m.
upstairs in the Grange/Town Hall.

project & left a note for our hat maker-she would like to thank you
in person-come in Mon. or Tues. before 10:00-she has made over 30
baby has & 60 adult hats which will be distributed among 3
hospitals.. Thank you to the family that brought in 4 ATV JR

Chichester Town Library News
Featured artists for November are Frank Curatolo and Richard Pratt,
both Chichester residents and friends of the Library.
Frank was born in Boston and attended classes at the Museum School
at the Museum of Fine Arts and at the Art Institute, both in Boston.
He has attended classes with Sylvia Brofos at Kimball-Jenkins. He
has worked in oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink and pastels.
Other interests are playing the piano and tending to his flower
gardens. He often shares his musical talent with attendees of the
book sales, as well as the sing-along.
Richard Pratt is a native of Goffstown and moved to Chichester 12
years ago. Although he fostered his interest in art a bit later in
life, he has also attended classes at the Currier Museum School and
with Sylvia Brofos at Kimball-Jenkins. He has worked in oils,
acrylics, charcoal, watercolor, colored pencils and pastels. Dick
has also done art work for the Chichester Historical Society, of
which he is Vice-President.
The new Craft Group will meet again on November 20th at 7 p.m. in
the “Down Under” Section of the Library.
If people hurry, they may not be too late to participate in the
raffle of a toy stuffed turkey, a homemade pumpkin pie and some
holiday napkins. The drawing will occur on November 23rd and the
pie will be delivered on November 26th.
The Down Cellar Writers group will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday,
November 25th.
The Library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday
following the holiday.
Other activities that have been going on at the Library have
included a book sale, the weekly Story and Crafts time on Mondays
for kindergarteners and pre-kindergarteners and programs on the
Northern Pass and the Affordable Health Care Act.
Also, the annual, autumn Poetry Night, entitled Fall Down Laughing
and hosted by Jimmy Pappas was a huge success. The program featured
award-winning puppeteer Andrew Periale, along with several NH poets
who read their most humorous works. Mr. Periale has
worked in the arts for over thirty years. He has been a full-time
puppeteer for twenty years, but also an actor, playwright, poet,
teacher and editor. His poetry has appeared in Light Quarterly,
Yellow Medicine Review, and Entelechy International among others. A
member of City Hall Poets (Portsmouth, NH), he also served four
years as the Poet Laureate of Rochester, NH. He is the new NH
coordinator for Poetry Out Loud, and has a book forthcoming from
Oyster River Press. Andrew directs the Emmy-nominated Perry Alley
Theatre and has been the editor of Puppetry International magazine
for 28 years. He has also written many plays; his text
for L’Histoire du Soldat premiered with the Chamber Orchestra of
Philadelphia. Last year he won the Spotlight Award as best director
in the seacoast region. The puppets he brought to Fall Down Laughing
are from his new solo show, Mano a Monolog.
Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, November 6.
The evening began with a pancake and sausage supper at 6 p.m. Master
Kevin Belval called the business meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Several activities had been accomplished since the last meeting. The
State Grange Annual meeting took place in Concord on October 24-26.
Master Belval reported the action taken on resolutions there.
Carolee Davison took the Sixth Degree and watched Hannah West
deliver her speaking part as State Lecturer. Mary West and Anne
Boisvert participated as members of the Rose Drill. The Chichester
Grange Community Service Notebook received an honorable mention
ribbon, and Mary West took second place in the latch hook needlework
contest.
The Penny Sale on November 2nd went well. The participants had a
good time and money for two more window panes will be sent to the
Chichester Heritage Commission. By now Chichester Grange should have
contributed enough to cover the cost of an entire window.
Chichester Grange is considering hosting an Organization Fair for
the many organizations in Chichester. A cross between a
candidate’s night and a job fair, this would be a chance for the
many organizations in town to share what they do as well as to
recruit more members or supporters. Letters have been sent to the
various clubs, organizations, and commissions in town, asking for
their input and possible participation
The National Grange Convention will be held in Manchester, NH, from
November 12 to 16. The last time the National Grange met in New
Hampshire was 1913, one hundred years ago. Chichester Grangers are
involved with table favors for three meal events and will be helping
to provide food for the hospitality room at the hotel. In addition
Mary West will be serving as soloist for the Seventh Degree.
The program presented by Lecturer Alice Hilliard continued this
year’s inventions theme with the many accomplishments of Henry Ford.
Members learned that the Model T was the most popular car design
until the Volkswagen Beetle in 1972.
The next meeting will be held on November 20. Hannah West will be in
charge of the program and Linda Booth will provide refreshments.
2013 Spirit of New Hampshire Awards
The 2013 Spirit of New Hampshire Awards will be held on November
14th, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH.
This year over 90 different volunteers & organizations from all
over New Hampshire will be recognized for their commitment to
service and New Hampshire’s tradition of volunteerism.
There are four awards categories: Youth Service, Adult Service,
Older Adult, Group
Lucille is one of 23 exceptional older adult volunteers chosen
throughout the State of NH
Lucille Carson Noel is invaluable to the Chichester Town Library;
she is a Library trustee as well as a member of Lovers of Chichester
Library organization. She devotes countless hours to their many
book sales, helps create diverse programs to keep adults and
children interested in utilizing the library, helps to supervise
renovation projects, provides weekly reports to the Board of
Selectmen, and even tends to its gardens.
Lucille Noel is an asset to Chichester Historical Society for her
knowledge of historic artifacts, advises the society on purchases
and is authorized to purchase auction items of interest for their
collection. She is in charge of the main display and sets the
guidelines for artifact preservation and maintenance.
To help with the Historic Chichester Garden Tour, she organized and
implemented a Monet style sidewalk café for Tour participants. She
also arranged a plant sale, garden book sale and a showing for two
adult artists, a photographic artist, and, the focal point, a 9-year
old artist.
Because of her cultural interests, she serves as the Chichester
Heritage Commission Chair; her accomplishments include “A Pane At A
Time” window restoration project for the Grange-Town Hall. She
oversees the Canterbury Road Tree Restoration and Scenic Road
projects, and has been instrumental in co-authoring the Heritage &
Cultural section of the Chichester Master Plan.
Ms. Noel’s impact is not simply short-term; her efforts are
continuously serving our community. It has been often said at
several Selectmen’s meetings that Lucille is an invaluable asset to
the entire community through all the work she to devotes to town
organizations. One example is the Grange-Town Hall
window restoration project which has not only preserved the original
windows, but are now in shape to stand up to the weather of 100
years. Lasting environmental impact : The tree-studded Canterbury
Road Tree Project is replacing huge maple trees that have died
because of salt damage; the new saplings are salt resistant.
Because of their Scenic Road designations, certain roads are and
will continue to be protected from overcutting and damage to
stonewalls.
Lucille Noel is a “volunteer inspiration” to us all. We see her
smiling face everywhere there is a worthwhile project or cause. She is the leading force that a group of us are campaigning to raise
$5,000 for PLAN NH to come to Chichester with a team of
professionals to hold an intensive two-day meeting with community
members in order to provide us with a Design Charrette. This
Charrette will provide the Town with a comprehensive report
including conceptual drawings to address concerns, ideas and
solutions to community issues. She presented this idea, has spoken
at meetings, sent letters to all town departments and organizations
and has had the PLAN NH director present an informational meeting to
some 30 attendees. With her persistent leadership, the Design
Charrette will become a reality for the betterment of Chichester
and its residents - NOW and in the FUTURE.
Secret Santa

Who would believe? Who should believe!!!
It is time for the man dressed in red with the big belly and the
great big heart, to prepare for his journey. We are preparing for
his arrival at the Chichester Police Department. Now this is just a
heads up. Yes, we are doing the Secret Santa Program again this
year. We are graciously accepting monetary donations, and preparing
a list of volunteers. So if you are interested in donating or
volunteering to shop or wrap, please contact Donna or Chief Clarke
at the Chichester Police Department at 798-4911.
We will start accepting applications on November 18, 2013, until
December 9, 2013. The numbers continue to rise, so please be
conservative. Any Chichester family can sign up for assistance from
Secret Santa. We only request that you have a need and fill out an
application. Food baskets for Christmas will be done through the
Town Hall.
