Saturday, August 18, is Chichester’s Old Home Day. If you need to be traveling on Route 28 between Deer Meadow Road and Swiggey Brook Road you might want to do so before 9:30 am or after 11:30 am in order to avoid traffic congestion caused by the parade.

Happy Anniversary to Frank and Darlene Cavanaugh on August 19.

Have you ever seen Bean Hole Beans go into the ground? Come to Carpenter Park on Friday, August 17, at around 6 pm and find out how it is done. In fact, Linwood Marden could use your help in accomplishing this task.

Have your formed your Scavenger Hunt Team? The Old Home Day Scavenger Hunt is fun for a family or a group of three or four friends. The event will take place between 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 17.  Please be prompt.

Teams will leave Carpenter Park in their own vehicles and travel around Chichester. Based on a list of clues provided, they will visit supporting businesses, town landmarks and buildings and collect items or information about each location. They might be asked to collect a business card or brochure. They may have to provide the colors of a sign or hours of business. They may need to describe a particular part of a building or landmark. Teams will receive points for each correct item or answer. Those teams with the highest point totals will be awarded prizes.

The Old Home Day Parade will take place on Saturday, August 18. This year’s theme is “Under the Big Top.” The parade will form at Chichester Central School at 9:30 am and step out for Carpenter Park at 10:30 am. Please notify Carol Frekey-Harkness at 798-5443 if you would like to march, enter a float, ride a horse or a bicycle, or drive a vehicle of some sort in the parade.

Happy Birthday to Kara Jarvis and Sandra Millette on August 21.

The Chichester Historical Society regrets that volume 2 of Walter Sanborn’s Articles will not be ready for Old Home Day. They will be glad to take orders at Old Home Day and notify folks when the articles have been printed.

The Chichester PTO Fall Craft Fair is back! It will be October 13th from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Crafters are needed.  Please call Kris Losey 798-4055 or email [email protected] to reserve your space. Table space is 8x8 for $20.00. We hope to see you there.

OK! To be fair to those who cannot get to 1/2 price day on the last Thursday of the month, here goes.  One Saturday every six months, everything in the store will be 1/2 price.  The first 1/2 price Saturday will be August 25th, from 10 am - 4 pm.  If an item is 25¢, take two. Mix and match, a video and a book for example; a candle and a piece of tupperware. There are many items in the store that sell for 25¢.

There might also be some “surprises” as in Christmas items, weather permitting! Everything is included; brand names and jeans, appliances, quilts, etc.

Our normal days are Mon. 8-12, Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4 on Route 28 next to Parker’s Family Restaurant in the long yellow building.   You can call us at 247-7191.
