Happy Birthday to Myles Davison on July 26.
Saturday,
August 4, has been set as a Work Day at Carpenter Park. Volunteers
are needed to dispose of the slash debris left over from the clear
cutting of the new expansion zone. Food and drink will be available
at the park for volunteer workers. Please wear appropriate work
clothes and gloves. Children under 13 will need to be supervised at
all times by their parents as there will probably be heavy machinery
and cutting tools on site. Childcare may be available. If you are
not a heavy lifter, perhaps you could prepare food or provide
childcare. Register to help by contacting Frank Harrison at
www.webharrison.net/carpenter-park or call 798-3105.
Ten members of Chichester Grange and four guests enjoyed good food
and good fellowship at Makris Restaurant on July 18. It was a
special treat to visit with Ginny Azotea who has not been able to
drive down from Franklin for evening meetings this year. A few items
were collected for the Chichester Food Pantry.
Do you
have a favorite tree? The Heritage Commission’s Photo Contest this
year is on that topic. Take a picture of your favorite tree and
write down why you chose it. Give the picture to Lucille Noel,
Michelle Plunkett, or any member of the Heritage Commission. The
winner will be chosen at Old Home Day on August 18. The tree must be
located in Chichester.
If you or your organization is
intending to have a booth at Carpenter Park, please notify Carol
Frekey-Harkness at 798-5443 as soon as possible. Outside vendors are
also looking for spaces and the Old Home Day Committee needs to
apportion the limited space.
The Chichester Historical
Society has collected the 70 articles written by Walter Sanborn
since 2006 and is having them printed up into a booklet, “Chichester
Articles II.” It should be ready by Old Home Day, August 18, and you
may purchase a copy then at the Chichester Historical Society booth.
They are also reprinting the first set of articles with a cover that
says, “Chichester Articles I” in case you didn’t buy that one a few
years ago.
Carol Frekey-Harkness is organizing the Old
Home Day parade this year. The theme is “Under the Big Top.” The
parade will form at the school on August 18 at 9:30 am and head for
Carpenter Park at 10:30 a.m. Please call Carol at 798-5443 if you
will be marching or having a float or putting a vehicle into the
parade. Who knows, your float might win a cash prize.
Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News Submitted By Carol Hendee
Our little dorm size refrigerator (the one the girls who sort
outback use) quit working. It’s the wrong time for this to
happen. If anyone has a small fridge they can donate, we would
greatly appreciate it.
Did you know we still have an operation in
Laconia? It’s not a thrift store, it’s where all the work is done to
make the layette bags, quilts, knitted sweater sets, etc. The
workshop is at 668 Main St., Laconia and open Tues. and Wed. 10-4.
Tuesday is “sit and sew day.” Anyone can drop in and help make the
quilts. Wednesday is open for free knitting and crochet
lessons. Morning is best for this. You can also drop off yarn or
material for the projects.
These wonderful people are also
gearing up to go north in August for “The Day of Sharing” in
Lancaster. Baby Threads reaches many people, all made possible by
your generosity and the many people working to help people in need.
The Attic is on Route 28, and is open Mon. 8-4, Tues. and Thurs.
8-4, Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4. You can call us at 247-7191.
