Lauren Jerome Of Chichester Receives Nurse’s Pin At Saint Anselm

College’s Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Lauren Jerome, of Chichester, NH, a senior nursing major at Saint Anselm College, received a Saint Anselm College nurse’s pin at the 2012 pinning ceremony in the Abbey Church on April 28.

It was a special day for Jerome, who received a pin featuring elements of the college’s official seal and the symbol of a lamp referring to Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my steps and a light for my path." Dr. Sharon George, dean of nursing, pinned her with the Saint Anselm pin to wear for the entirety of her career.

The pinning ceremony is a celebration of a student’s completion of Saint Anselm College’s respected nursing program and symbolizes preparedness to serve as a compassionate caregiver in the healthcare setting.

Jerome will receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 19 at Saint Anselm College’s commencement ceremonies.

One thing about volunteering at the Attic, I get to see the really good side of people, which I might not in everyday life.

We asked for a walker and cane for our patrons. We have 3 walkers and a cane at the store! If you need assistance getting around the store, just ask and the volunteer at the desk will get it for you! Thank you ever so much to the donors.

Chichester Firefighters Assoc. Thermal Image Camera Fund Drive

The Chichester Firefighters Association wishes to announce it is launching a fund drive for the purchase of a new thermal imaging camera for the Chichester Fire-Rescue Department.

A thermal imager is a device that detects infrared heat waves and transfers them into a viewable picture. Because infrared radiation is not blocked by smoke, firefighters can use thermal imagers to see through smoke, enabling them to find victims faster, identify the seat of the fire earlier, and detect structural dangers that could put them at risk. They can also be used outside to assist in the search for missing persons.

At this time, the Fire-Rescue Department does have one thermal imaging camera in-service. This camera was donated to the Town many years ago by the Ladies Benevolent Society. Although still useful, it lacks many of the advancements of new technology, and is quite bulky. A new camera will be more "user friendly" and we will still use the older camera for an additional interior firefighting team.

The cost for a new thermal imaging camera will be approximately $10,000. Over the course of the next several months the firefighters association will be undertaking various fund raising initiatives toward reaching this goal. Our first fund raiser will be a Town Wide Yard Sale to be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 8am-2pm. Spots will be available at the lower Town Hall parking lot, or you may have your yard sale placed on a Town of Chichester map. There is no cost for either, but we are suggesting a donation to the Thermal Imager Fund.

For more info on Yard Sale specifics contact Paul Sanborn at 608-6252, or sign up at the fire station.

If you would like to make a direct donation to the thermal imager fund, you may drop it at the fire station, or mail it to: Chichester Firefighters Assoc., 22 Main Street, Chichester, NH 03258.
