Screening for children living in the SAU #53 districts of
Allenstown, Chichester, Deerfield, Epsom and Pembroke on March 29,
2011 (snow date March 30th) at Deerfield Community School. The
Preschool Child Screening is designed to locate children, three to
six years of age, who have special needs that may require special
attention. Professionals will screen overall development in
motor, cognitive, and language skills.
Parents who would like
their child to be screened, can call Amy Murphy, at 463-7422 x 108
to make an appointment.
A special activity is
scheduled at the Pittsfield Community Center on Monday, Wednesday,

State University will be meeting with seniors to discuss
“Reliability Of Balance Testing In Older Adults”. This is by
appointment only. You may call the Center at 435-8482 for more
information and to make an appointment.
On Tuesday, March 29th,
at 11:00 am, a blood pressure check will be provided by Concord
Regional VNA. During lunch, there will be a presentation
entitled “Keeping Your Heart Healthy.”

has bus service? Call 435-8482 for a schedule and to reserve a
seat.
Remember to attend the Sky Watch program at
Chichester Central School on March 23rd from 7 to 9 p.m. This free
program is sponsored by the Chichester Heritage Commission and the
Chichester Town Library. If clouds obscure the sky, there will still
be a presentation and discussion.
The Cub Scouts of
Pack #85 wish to thank all the town residents for their support of
our pack through their lunch and snack purchases at Town meeting
last Saturday, March 12th. Thanks to parents and volunteers who
donated baked goods and, special thanks to the Chichester Country
Store for their generous donation of yummy fresh doughnuts! The Cubs
and parents in attendance enjoyed serving the residents while
raising some money to support our pack’s many activities and
projects.
Happy Birthday on March 26 to Sean Menard
and Keith Davison, Sr.
Please remember that April is
the month to license your dog, so now is the time to be sure that
all the paperwork is in order. If you need to know what is required
for rabies shots, please call the Chichester Town Clerk.

Your Attic Thrift Shop News Submitted By Carol Hendee
It has been done! The bills are paid for January and
February. It was a little scary for a while, as the bad
weather and closings kept business down. But you have rallied once
again, and we made it, with money to spare to start on the birthday
bags! Thank you to all who continued to come out in wind,
snow, sleet and hail and to everyone that came back on Saturday,
March 12th; our best day ever!
There is a new program in Laconia,
teaching young girls (and guys if they want to) how to cook using a
crock pot, so they have food for the week.
Once they
complete the course, they get a crock pot. If you have one,
any size, that you no longer use, we can find a home for it.
We
are also low on toys. We are receiving requests for alarm
clocks, can openers, and towels. If you need wine
glasses, belts, handbags or extra dishes, we are waiting for you! We
have a huge body pillow. Ask at the desk as it is out back and
too large to display. We also have a nice, small butcher block
drop leaf table. Come see us at 345 Suncook Valley Hwy,
Chichester Tues. and Thurs. 8-4, Wed. 11-4 and Sat. 10-4.
Chichester Grange News
Chichester Grange met on Wednesday, March
16, upstairs in the Grange Hall. Deputy Dorothy Haskins was present
for her spring visit. Members voted to sponsor the Dictionary
Project in Canterbury, as that school is currently not sponsored for
this year. Members signed a letter and a resolution in support
of a proposal by the Chichester Heritage Commission to have the
windows of the Grange/Town Hall restored to good working order and
made more energy efficient. The Heritage Commission is applying for
a grant to fix the windows on the west and south sides of the
building, and, if that is successful, they would raise funds to fix
the rest of the building’s 27 windows.
Plans were made for the
fund-raising supper on April 3, to cover donations to the Youth
Funds of the NH State Grange. The menu will be lasagna, garlic
bread, salads, and dessert. Members will pay five dollars apiece for
the meal.
Wildlife sightings included flocks of geese, wild
turkeys, and several chipmunks. It is now maple sugaring season, and
the sap has been running well for the past week.
April is Grange
Month. Chichester Grange will try to put up an exhibit at the Town
Library. Also, on Saturday, April 16, there will be a special
membership meeting at the Grange Hall at noon. A newly-trained
membership team will come to have lunch and discuss membership
strategies with Chichester Grange members and other interested
persons. Another April event will be the Grange Baking Contest on
April 20. Members should be practicing up on their Whoopie Pies.
Carolee Davison presented an informative program on Smokey the Bear,
an advertising icon since World War II. At the close of the program
each member received a Smokey the Bear bookmark to take home.
