This summer the Chichester Methodist Church had the steeple
of the church restored by Richard Kenneally. Over the years, the
wind and weather had done considerable damage, even blowing down
one of the spires. Insurance did pay for some of the repairs,
but an outreach was done and people in the community stepped
forward and the balance was lovingly received. Richard even did
repairs so that the bell can again ring on Sunday mornings.
Thank you all for your support; a special thank you to the
Chichester Ladies Benevolent Society, and to Richard for his
wonderful work. Next time you ride by the church, look up and
see this beautiful restoration.
Happy Birthday to Colby Depres and Skip Jarvis on October 8
and to Camdyn Depres and Brianne Stone on October 9.
You are cordially invited to attend a Meet the Candidates
Night on Thursday, October 14, 2010, in the Chichester Town Hall

to introduce him/herself. There will be a time for questions
from the voters in attendance, followed by refreshments and
mingling. The Chichester Town Hall is located at 54 Main Street.
The Chichester Youth Association will be meeting in the
selectman’s office conference room on Sunday, October 10th, at 6
p.m. If you have a child involved with CYA, this is a
great opportunity for you to get involved, see what’s going on,
and help us build this organization. Hope to see you
there.
Letter to the Editor
Thank you to the many Chichester and Pembroke residents who
supported me in the primary! I am honored to have received the
most votes in both Towns, but also realize that more work is
needed to get elected and to change the fiscal irresponsibility
in Concord.
For those who don’t know me, I am a veteran and
entrepreneur. My wife and I own several small businesses and
have employed many Chichester and Pembroke residents over the
last 20 years. I believe: (1) in a small efficient government
that serves the people and does not rule the people, (2) small
businesses are the backbone of our great country, (3) we need to
stop piling more taxes on hard working New Hampshire citizens,
(4) government should never budget money it does not have, (5)
an average of 1,200 bills submitted each year is ridiculous, and
(6) a 30+ percent spending splurge and 80 new or increased taxes
have drastically hurt hard working New Hampshire citizens.
November’s election is very important due to huge
philosophical differences between the Republicans and Democrats
running for office in Chichester. It is no longer good enough to
vote for someone because he/she is a nice person. Pembroke
and Chichester voters need to realize what the current
Democratic legislators have voted for, and hopefully choose a
more sane direction for New Hampshire’s future.
In the last four years, your Democratic legislators (Sally
Kelly, Frank Davis, Diane Schuett) irresponsibly voted to
increase our budget by over THREE BILLION DOLLARS, despite no
population increase and decreasing revenues. That’s an
increase of over $2,200 for every New Hampshire citizen! They
also voted to use one-time stimulus money to help pay for the
huge increases and supposedly “balance” the budget!

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News

Many things going on in the Attic. Many Halloween
decorations and costumes have left the store and we have some
scary/funny items left.
Hard to believe, but preparations are underway for the
Christmas Gift Bags. Last year, 1, 445 families received the
bags. Hard to know how many we will need this year!
New Sale Days are in effect. The last Thursday of the month
will be 1/2 price day, excluding books and videos. The
following Sat. and Tues. will be days where any women’s clothing
item (excluding coats and jeans) with a color tag from the
previous two months, will be sold for $.25. The “X” room is
being phased out as we will have special sections for $.25
items.
All books will be $.25 and we will have a section for free
magazines.
If you want to help the ladies who sort donations in our
back room, they would greatly appreciate receiving small, light
bags of donations. A huge black lawn bag full of clothes is a
lot to handle and move around.
We are located at 345 Suncook Valley Hgwy (Rte 28),
Chichester, and are open Tues. and Thurs., 8-4; Wed., 11-4; and
Sat., 10-4. You can call 435-9339 to ask if we have an item you
need.
Take a Fairy Adventure Through Letterboxing!!!
Submitted by SAM the KAT
What is letterboxing? Letterboxing is a fun activity for the
whole family. It is like a scavenger hunt in the woods. You are
looking for a plastic Tupperware container that is hidden in the
woods. To get clues visit the sites listed below. Well what do
you do after you find the box? When you go letterboxing you
bring your own inkpad, stamp, and notebook to keep track of all
the boxes you find. There is always a stamp and notebook in side
of the box. You will stamp your stamp in the notebook in the box
and use the stamp in the box to stamp in your book. In this way,
you can keep track of all of the boxes you find. The best part
of letterboxing is that it takes you to exciting places you
might not of even heard of before. These boxes are hidden all
over the world so you can turn any trip into a letterboxing
expedition. For more information visit the sites listed below.
If
you’d like to try out a letterbox locally hidden, you can try
our new letterbox, Fairy Adventure. We have hidden this
letterbox on a trail behind the Chichester Town Hall. To get the
clues and directions for this letterbox go to
www.letterboxing.org or
www.atlasquest.org and type in Fairy Adventure. Or you can
take a flier from the Chichester Library. Our letterbox is on
the easier side so it is great start to your letterboxing
career. It is also good for younger children who like fairies.
Because we have set a fairy theme to this letterbox you are
welcome to build your own fairy house along the trail. We hope
you will enjoy our Fairy Adventure. If you have any questions or
comments about our letterbox please post them on
www.altasquest.org.
