The Old Home
Day Variety Show will be held on Thursday, August 14, in the
Chichester Central School Multi-Purpose Room beginning at 6:30
p.m. For a donation of $2.00 you can see a fine show.
Friday, August 15, will be Cruise Night at Carpenter Park. Hear
live music, see the cars (weather permitting), help lower the
bean kettle into the bean hole, and be part of the excitement of
setting up for Old Home Day.
We hope to see you all at Old Home Day, August 16, at Carpenter
Park. From the Tractor Pulls beginning at 7 a.m. to the
Fireworks at 8:45 p.m. there will be plenty to do and see. Bring
some non-perishable items to donate to the Chichester Food
Pantry and drop them off at the Grange tent. Bring some money to
spend at the “Attic Treasures” Flea Market under the big tent.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and go from Chichester School
to Carpenter Park. Bean Hole Beans and Roast Pig will be served
at noon. Please carpool if you can to save parking space.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, August 20, at 7 p.m.
upstairs in the Grange/Town Hall. The program will be Election
of Officers. Millie Becker is in charge of refreshments.
Your town needs you to volunteer for a committee. There are
plenty to choose from. Stop in at the Town Offices and see where
you might fit in.
Chichester Hunter Education Class
Now is the prime time to sign up to take a Hunter Education
Class. Individuals 16 years old and older need a hunting license
to hunt in New Hampshire and in order to purchase your first
Hunting License in New Hampshire you must complete a Hunter
Education Course. The NH Fish and Game Department offers Hunter,
Bow Hunter, and Trapper Education Classes around the State. To
Find a class, please call 271-3214.
The Basic Course is 16 hours of classroom instruction and field
experiences, including live fire on a shooting range. The
courses are taught by trained certified instructors and they
will cover safe firearm handling, wildlife ID, game trailing,
recovery and care, hunter ethics, outdoor safety and survival
skills, hunting laws and map and compass skills. Each course
concludes with a written test and practical field exam. If
successful, students receive their Hunter Education
Certification Card.
After receiving your Hunter Education Certification Card, bring
that card and visit the Chichester Town Clerk for your 2008
Hunting License. Hunting fees are $22.00; Archery, $22.00;
Muzzleloader, $16.00; Turkey, $16.00; Combination Hunting and
Fishing, $46.00. Call the Clerk’s Office at 798-5808 for prices
of other licenses.

2008 Hunting, Fishing, and ORHV licenses at the Chichester Town
Clerk’s Office.
Chichester Library
It looks like we might make our reading goal of 3,000 hours by
August 19th. As of August 6th we only had 820 hours to go. I am
very proud of all of the children in Chichester who are working
so hard! Keep bringing in those reading hours.
If we complete our goal, Storyteller/Singer Steve Blunt will eat
a live bug. So keep the date open, Tuesday, August 19th at 7:00.
Steve is a very talented and entertaining performer and he is
worth seeing even if he doesn’t get to eat that bug. You can
check him out at
www.steveblunt.com
The Chichester Town Library will be hosting adult programs on a
regular basis. The first one promises to be very exciting. Local
photographer, Ray Mongeau, has been researching and
experimenting with hydrogen fuel cell technology. Using
electricity to separate the hydrogen out of distilled water and
baking soda, a hose with a one way valve goes into the
carburetor or manifold increasing the gas mileage in his 1994
Suzuki Swift from 32 mpg to 50 mpg.
Hydrogen is the fuel of the future and using it in small amounts
(you are literally making it in a Mason jar as you drive) makes
it safe, clean and economical.
Ray will show you what he has done. He will explain the history
of the hydrogen fuel cell and the science behind it. He will
talk about how to use hydrogen safely and what to look out for
in products and companies that are being sold on the internet.
This program will be held at the Chichester Town Hall, 54 Main
St. in Chichester on August 21 at 6:30.

Out
Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
By Ruthi True
Donations, Donations, Donations
In this day and age a lot of non profits seem to have a hard
time getting donations. We, at Out Of Your Attic have been lucky
so far. We believe folks donate to us because they know we do
good things for all the local communities. They also realize
that we sell very reasonably all year long to make it so ANYONE
CAN AFFORD nice things . If we didn’t have rent, lights and all
the other bills organizations have, we would give it all away
free - but be real.
We are having a special for the whole month of August. You can
buy a 13 gallon trash bag and fill it for just $5 for back to
school. If you can’t fill it with school clothing maybe you’d
like knick knacks, books, blankets, lamps, dishes, coffee pots,
toys or anything else in Rooms # 2+3. So if you need a little
motivation to start school shopping instead of waiting till
everything is picked over, why not try filling a bag at Out Of
Your Attic Thrift Shop?
Any extra money we make, will help us do more backpacks for the
kids and we’re afraid there will be a bigger demand for those
needing them this year.
Coming to Chichester from out of town for thrift shopping makes
sense as there are other shops in the area, sort of like the
Antique Alley area for Thrift Shops.
Thanks for shopping and donating with us. As long as you
continue to donate and shop, we will be here to help you and
others in surrounding towns.
If you spend $5, you get to put your name in the weekly drawing.
The winner last week was Charm F. from Gilmanton.
Any questions, call the shop at 435-9339 Tue., Wed., Thurs.,
8-4; and Sat., 10-4. See ya soon!!
Wish list:
1) Book by Nora Roberts, The Black Rose.
2) Boy’s nice bike for teenager in need from Concord.
3) Canned goods for our food pantry box.
Thanks for the continued support. You always come through for
us.
