OK, folks, the time has come to get serious about
Old Home Day! Chichester's Old Home Day is scheduled for August 16.
The deadline for space at Carpenter Park is August 8. If you are a
vendor or someone from a Town church, club, or committee who is
going to set up a booth, you must notify Jaan Luikmil (798-4987) by
August 8 or be turned away.
You need to have items for the "Attic Treasures"
Flea Market to Stacy Luikmil on or before August 8 so they can be
priced. Call her at 798-4987 to arrange for pick-up if necessary. No
items will be accepted at the park on Old Home Day.
Call Elaine Coffey (798-4909) or Julie Raposa
(798-4715) if you want to enter the Pie Baking Contest on Old Home
Day. Double-crust fruit pies will be judged and prizes given. Let's
have some good participation and give the judges a work-out!
We are still looking for students who could use
community service hours to help with parking, trash barrel duty,
etc. on Old Home Day. Contact Jaan Luikmil at 798-4987 if you can
help out.
Call JoAnn Luikmil at 798-5483 if you can bake
cookies for dessert at the noon meal on Old Home Day.
There is still time to sign up for the Old Home
Day Parade. The theme this year is "Days Gone By." Dust off your
town history, decorate your float or vehicle, and participate. Call
Jaan Luikmil at 798-4987 and he'll add you to the line-up.
An addition to the Old Home Day events at
Carpenter Park this year is the NH Draft Horse Association Obstacle
Course. BIG horses will be going through their maneuvers in a
section of the graveled parking lot at Carpenter Park.
The Chichester Food Pantry is asking for
donations of non-perishable foods, paper goods, laundry soap, or
personal care items such as toothpaste on Old Home Day. Cash is
always welcome, too! Bring your donations to the Chichester Grange
Booth where there will be boxes to fill.
The Old Home Day Variety Show will be held on
Thursday, August 14, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Chichester Central
School. For a two-dollar donation you can see a good show.
Weather permitting, there will be a Cruise Night
with live music at Carpenter Park on Friday, August 15. Other Friday
night activities will be exhibit set-up and putting the bean-hole
beans into the ground.
Chichester Grange will meet only once during the
month of August. That meeting will be Wednesday, August 20, at the
Grange Hall.
CYA
The next meeting of the Chichester Youth
Association will be held on August 3, 2008, at 6:00 pm in the
Selectman's Conference Room at the Town Hall.
This meeting is open to all Chichester residents.
Chichester Town Library Mindtrap
Do you like riddles, brain teasers, and puzzles?
Do you enjoy solving them? Well we have a game for you! MINDTRAP.
It's a game full of hundreds of puzzles, mysteries, brainteasers,
conundrums and trick questions, all designed to challenge the way
you think.
Here is an example of one of the riddles: "Two of
the fastest horsemen in the kingdom proposed to the king's daughter.
The king didn't like either suitor, but he wanted to look fair so he
suggested a horse race in which the winner would have his daughter's
hand. The only catch was that the winner would be the person whose
horse came in second. The king was certain the race would never take
place because he felt that neither horseman would let the other win.
Finally, the king's daughter made a suggestion to the the two
horseman that would guarantee a fair race. What did she suggest?
Stumped? Think you know the answer? Well if you
enjoy this one then you will love playing MINDTRAP with us at the
Chichester Town Library on August 6 at 6:00 P.M. Anyone over the age
of 12 is welcome to come and play and have a good time. Please come,
we'd love to see you there!

Backpack
Project Started
We are on a roll with our backpack project and
could use your help. We do this every year for all the close
surrounding towns and up North as well. Items we need if you can
help are New Backpacks, Notebooks, Trapper Keepers, Scissors,
Rulers, Erasers, Pencil Sharpeners, Colored Pencils, Pencils, Glue
Sticks, Crayons, Markers. We expect more will be needing our help
with the rising cost of everything else out there. The big
department stores have some good deals right now on things. My
daughter bought a lot of things to donate and got a bag full for a
great price. We give the back packs to the school nurses to make
sure the neediest kids get them.
Start your school shopping early and save money.
School shopping doesn't require a lot of effort or running around if
you shop at Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop at 345 Suncook Valley Road
in Chichester. We have a lot of nice donated items for school
clothing and get different items each day we are open. Cost
conscious shoppers will find great buys here. Counting pennies
should not mean sacrificing quality. We have good quality at good
prices.
